Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Creative....... in a Vista Cruiser kinda way. I kinda dig how they used the tailgate for the door on the storage box....... otherwise, kinda odd. Wonder how they finished off the interior of the added cab...... And I wonder why they left the rear view mirrors on the top doors.......

I love the front door. Already for a tandem front axle.

Ok, anyone notice the plate?

Someone find this monsterosity and kill it - kill it with fire.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

So my buddy who got the junkyard axle with the lunchbox locker set up his gears today.

He got curious and tried a D-30 shaft in the extra D-35 locker he bought earlier in the year. That D-35 lunchbox locker is now installed in his D-30.

I got curious and started looking up part numbers and axle specs. Then I went out and measured a used D-30 shaft I have laying around.

I'll break the news to him tomorrow. I betcha a nickle he runs it anyway. :D

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Man, reading all the threads in the chapter forum, looks like people had a pretty rough weekend, wrenching, crashing, wheeling etc... Mine was simply awesome -- brewed 6.5 gallons of what looks to be a killer scottish amber beer, swapped the new trailer axle in so I now need only one spare (e-brakes to follow), rotated the tires and did the brakes on the jeep, damn near completed my swing-out tire carrier, and played 9 holes of golf with my oldest son - hist first time out. I'll throw up some pics once I figure out WTF my camera is... Hope my good fortune rubs off on the rest of ya!!:peace::guitar:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

nice, looks like a "prerunner" golf rack!:roflmao:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yeah, not a fan of the Flux Core.

I can make it look pretty and be a good weld...but i'de just prefer to use my Gas setup :D

Hey Tom, you working in Fort Collins? I've passed you several times on the way to my VanPool for my internship in Boulder. Usually see ya on Shields headed into FoCo...rig still looks great too!
Yup. I'm working at Advanced Energy Industries.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Anyone been out to Colorad Auto Salvage recently? They're sprucing the place up! I kinda dig the landscaping theme going on!

If you haven't been there, they've had a pretty cool vintage gas station set up near the front of the yard for a few years. They picked up an old '70's Ford truck that had run head-on into a tree or pole and put it onto their own tree, making it look like the accident happened right there - pretty comical! Now they've added these:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

That orange pickup has been wrapped around that tree for as long as I can remember, and they've got an old Ford wrecker truck behind it somewhere too... pretty cool. I went back a couple months ago and both of those "new landscaping" things in the pics were there. I kinda like it.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

i hate people that compare new all terains to new mud terrains...so irritating

Its all personal opinion man , my opinion is they all suck ,some perform better
in other conditions than something else they may have had before .
BFG , recently went out of business last tax year so as far as the new rubber there selling or who officially has ownership of the brand name and how their
making there rubber now a days is all up in arms .:dunno:

Older all AT's were regarded as a long lasting tire but my new ones probably
will last maybe a year and a half .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Getting the tire carrier close to done...

A-arm is on the hub/hinge (took the locking hub off while finishing welding and getting ready to paint) -- man, you guys think my welds are ugly, the ones on this a-arm (I bought it pre-made a couple of years ago) were both fugly and decorative -- ground some of them off and re-cooked, now they're just ugly:

The tire is Nick's that I've been borrowing for a trailer spare -- Nick you have PM so I can bring it back to you - Gracias!!

I figured out a hitch mechanism, but the one I picked up cheap from Skully isn't going to work, so I ordered one of these: http://www.atozfabrication.com/store/Tire-Carrier-T-handle-Latch-Assembly.html

I also got the trailer axle under the MJ, so now I only need to carry a single spare (and slightly larger/better rubber on the trailer) - plus it has electric brakes, which will make Floyd Hill much less vomit inducing -- thanks for the deal, Tom!:

maybe wrap it up this week, and YEAH, I'll have some cargo space... :yelclap:
