Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Alrighty... up to about a foot and a few inches now.... plus 2 foot snow drifts. Going into work all day.. this should be fun.

IF YOU DON'T NEEDTO DRIVE.. DONT!

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Wow, it's going to be 79 tomorrow, oh wait I'm in Orlando. Sorry guy hopefully you all don't get too much snow.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Well its done snowing now... thanks for making me very jealous... even though I hate the humid weather over there in Florida.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Probably 4 degrees.

That's also about the thickest shim you can get where the center pin will still pass through and have enough engagement into the spring pad on the axle, any larger and I like the shims that bolt to the pack via the center pin.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

got all the parts for the sye either in hand or on order so now i need to figger out how big a shim to put in rear any advice ?

Shimming with a 2" OME lift that's gonna receive an SYE?

Total overkill guys.

From my last conversation with Jim, he's not even experiencing vibes. He said he felt the slip yoke wasn't seating far enough into the t-case so he wants the SYE to take care of that issue.

I'm thinking a 4 degree shim is gonna be too much..........

And since we're on the topic of shims........ Stay away from any shim that's made of cast metal - especially aluminum. They fatigue and break very easily. Solid steel shims are the only way to go.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Pinion's still gotta point up.. at 2" they don't. :lecture:

Jim has OME's full leaf packs, not an add-a-leaf. I'm fairly certain that the leafs are made to compensate for pinion angle to some degree..... otherwise they'd suggest a shim, or include one.

BOR's leaf packs are built to compensate for that as well, but not for every application - some axles do require a couple extra degrees due to the length of the pinion from the center of the axle.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Geez, I gotta update my tech library- I'm still stuck in '02 or so. Good call.

Another consideration is the length of the shackle being used. That can also affect pinion angle........ not in Jim's case, but in taller lifts it shouldn't be left out of the equasion.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yeah.. contemplating putting shackles on mine and little taller coils in the front to fit 33's.. and not having to get bigger shims. I was gonna ask if you had some shackles the day I got the springs from ya but it slipped my mind.

Re: The Colorado BS thread
