Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I used to love growin up at Nellis. Dad used to work flightline. Fighter training school and thr 'red flag' event ( or something like that:dunno:)
that and being in japan/Beale and seeing thr SR71 a few times. Wish I hadn't been so young.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Hey DJ.. WTH was going on at Buckley today? Normal occurrence? I thought the junkyard was gonna get flattened by F-16's, there were no less than 6 strung out at about 30-sec. intervals doing low approaches topped off with some 'burner!
I was taking my kids to Beck for swimming lessons, when the strafing started. I pointed out the first, then they just kept coming. Of course the boys were diggin it at 5-1/2 & not quite 7 years old. We had been to the AF v. Wyoming game a few weeks back, and Caleb asked if the planes were going to the football game. I told him, "Sure." Zip it, DJ.:)

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I believe the Tanner Gun show is this weekend, anybody going?

Just FYI - Dan and I didn't go today, but will be going tomorrow (Sunday) if anyone else is interested. We'll be meeting at the 'Mart at 11am.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Are the flex joints attached with only bolts? Where can the flex joints be sourced?
Wouldn't this lower the tailpipe? :thumbdn:
Should a muffler shop do this cutting and / or welding ?
The reason I'm asking is that the 2nd install for Jon will be on my red xj, that he has built over the years.

JJacobs is an awesome XJ mechanic and now a Fun Off Road Dude (FORD) mechanic as well :guitar:
Someone had to say it, huh Jon? :wave1:

Oh, and the fly-by scenarios would remind me of growing up at Tinker, Ramstien & Wright-Patterson (Dad was a lifer)
and my time at Eglin, Korat , CCK and Vandenberg.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I got the 2nd Comanche down from Golden Gate Canyon tonight. Aside from trying to stop on dirt once, the drive was slow and un-eventful.

After getting some chow I went out to unload. I quickly learned this home made dolly isn't too good on U-turns.

Now it was nice that it broke down at home. After the fact, all I could think about was the Mrs giving me dirty looks for dragging it home. It breaks in front of a retired firefighters home...and still reeks from the beer can collection the PO stored in it. :gee:

I worked silently, in the night, in the dark, hoping no-one would hear, no-one would come...

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Oh snap! (litterally........ :D)

Yeah, that woulda sucked to have that happen a ways from home.

Not many tow dollies are good at tight turns. The ones with a pivot plate that allows the front wheels of the towed vehicle to pivot on the frame of the dolly are better....... but I've seen those do damage to the lower fenders/rockers of the towed vehicle on tight turns.

Dollies can be a PITA to back up with too.

Trailers FTW.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Absolutely amazing. Everyone throughout the day commented how I never slipped/spun. Ran em at about 8psi and it was perfect. Jeep is very shoot and point now. Just goes everywhere I want.
