Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yeah I read up on it all before it happened to me, but brushed it off as the T was running awesome and flawlessly up until I got hit with both, also taking out the fuel pump. 3k later I was over dealing with the dealer and traded it in for the taco.
A quick search of ipdm/ecu issues on Nissan will result hundreds of posts/threads.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I have not heard anything about that either (not at all doubting you). I'll look into it. One of the reasons I have held onto this car for as long as I have is that it's not given me problems and I honestly don't look at other vehicles (ones I can afford anyways) and think I could be happy owning that for 10 years. I loved my 96 Cherokee but definitely want something newer. I considered looking at something like a similar year Grand Cherokee but that 2001 XJ we had really left a bad taste in my mouth and I said I'd never buy a Jeep again. I know that's not fair to say but I also don't really know all that much about that model year range GC either. Certainly open to suggestions. Looking to spend probably 18-20 and I want something that I can take to higher mountain lakes and extremely light trails (along the lines of China Wall). I miss being able to go exploring. Never really cared for the wheeling aspect and my 96 was way overbuilt. Being able to store my fly fishing gear is a priority so, unfortunately, pickups are not ideal (although I really like them).

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I really like the Tacoma but I will not find one in that 18-20 range that doesn't have at least 100,000 on it.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

In Colorado...pointless.

The only negative i see with them is the front end as the top loader would probably produce major fit issue under the oil pan without huge lift and a huge axle push forward ,and I'm already at 116 wheelbase after my last reform of the XJ and I'm on less tha 8 inches of lift with 44's I don't want a 15 inch lift to fit them ,but I am kicking the idea around of 47 ltb after the 44s ...nothing serious in the works now just got 47s in my mind ,and I'm not sure why .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Why don't you just build a steering 14bolt for the front of your jeep, you can build it to be as strong if not stronger then a stock rockwell...and it won't be retarded like a rockwell

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I see pretty much next to no positives to running rockwell axles if Colorado is your main wheeling area...unless you just want big axles and tires for show.

You'd still end up getting outwheeled by guys on 40/42's with well built setups.

Without building around the rockwells, the pinion brake, even if done up will make you sitting on portals look low slung. As well, I wouldn't plan on those unless you also plan on putting in a MUCH stouter drivetrain.

You'll have a lot more issues actually fitting on trails as well.

If you really are that gung ho on it...as mentioned F&R steering 14 bolts will get you a lot further.

Rockwells in reality are better off served for the east coast guys who need a LOT of tire and a LOT of horsepower for what they do.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yeah kind of thought the Rockwells were bad idea due to fitment ...But the steering 14 seems like a good idea for a future rear end I always liked the idea of rear steering it just seems like a good tool to have . 43 sx stickys will still be the tire plan after I get some use out of the 44 TSL I got and have used for fit up ,which they should do better than the Boggers I ran as they will be heavily grooved/siped and have been treated in a few gallons of Formula-v I had sitting that I never used on the Boggers ...If I break too much on these 44's I'll drop to 42 Irok stickys ...IF I don't like the 116 Wheelbase i'll cut new links and bring it back in some . Basically my only real concern is not getting too hung up in the middle and not breaking to axle parts every trip ,but from what i've seen obn both I should be fine ,but if not it's easy to change things back a bit .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

A buddy of mine now has a front 14 bolt to match his rear 14 bolt (non steering rear).

He runs 47" LTBs, but in reality I think that's just too much for most the wheeling in Colorado.

The 43" SX Stickies would be good, or you could move to a 42" sticky (outside of the Irok) that in all reality would measure bigger. My 40" Kevlar Stickies were a decent bit bigger than my 42" Iroks. I know several people have liked the 42" sticky Iroks as well though.

I thought about rear steer at some point...but it's just a WHOLE lotta money and time, and the rear really has to be built with that in mind.

Outside of competition or SUPER technical trails, I don't see guys using theirs very much.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I drove a few Xterras today (X trim) and, while I thought they were ok...I don't know. The Pro 4X has a lot of bells and whistles like bluetooth and better stereo but the X/S trim is pretty bare bones. I hate shopping for vehicles. Since I am not in a bind, I'm going to drive some other stuff. I want an SUV (not a truck). I kinda like the Liberty from 2011-2013 years but don't know squat about them. I also like the Grand Cherokee (same years) but don't know about those either. What can you tell me?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Right now I need to get motivated to get working on the boatsides , which are getting done outside in the storage lot ...I need to pick up some cold weather gear that will not start on Fire while cutting/welding ...When I swap the t-case out I'll be doing a cutting brake that may be enough extra for steering that i'm looking for .

My Mom has a Liberty of that year range ut is really well appointed inside even the sound system is nice for a stocker it bumps pretty well with the stock subwoofer and mids and highs and has a nice navigation set up ...lol...I paid more for my 09 Ram 2500 and it has none of that stuff .

2008-2013 KK/Liberty/Cherokee

Same as Dodge nitro 07+

Very similar to 02-07 KJ liberty.

I like the KK much better than the KJ. If a KK had been produced with a CRD I would have switched to one by now. For now I keep putting up with the KJ CRD because CRD.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

The KK's are pretty nice, well appointed as 1-tonxj said. You can lift them a little, plenty to work with what you want to do. Keep in mind though you are venturing into IFS territory, the lift on the rig below is $4,200.

Yeah I wasn't certain if it was IFS but that's fine. I'm not gonna lift it. You know what I'll do with this thing. From what I'm seeing it looks like it would do ok. Oddly enough, some of the reviews I read knocked it a bit for it's on road capability and saying that the motor was a little gutless. Even with the IFS they said it was pretty capable.

Is that parts or install plus parts ?

I was always fond of the Arctic Edition, kind of like an upscale Laredo.
