Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Why do you think the younger crowd doesn't come to naxja?

I feel that Facebook is what's killing boards like naxja and others that used to be big traffic drivers.
Boards still drive people looking to gather wrenching data, but it is overall a more effective to organize and meet people (rather than funny usernames) on social media.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Because they are lazy.
Guy posts up having rough idle and misfit codes on 01 after start up when jeep has been running a bit.

Tell him to search heat soak.

They flat won't. They will wait until someone just hands them all the info. 20 posts later someone writes out the TSB for them because even following a link was too much work. That's why they won't come to naxja. It's too damn hard.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Maybe because the XJ community is dying....

I remember being a young 18 year old with my first XJ. I came to as many as I could for... Jeepforum.com NAXJA.org, Colorado4x4... etc.

It was awesome!

There are still a lot of Jeep meets around. XJ's just aren't a thing as much anymore.

Now I go to a few different car meets. Either way, I'll still be around here. Like it or not.

Quite a few reasons, and Facebook is just one.

As BOD, this year I'd like to focus as much as possible on gaining members, and getting current member to actually give more of a hoot other than sitting behind a keyboard.

That, and maybe actually getting US out ON the trails...barely anyone here seems to actually wheel anymore.

Hard to garner new members, when NAXJA isn't much out on the trails.

The XJ community is FAR from dying, hell all you have to do is look at FB for that.

Hell, there are vehicles that stopped production before ours that still have a great following. It's not the vehicles, its the members.

There's still a LOT of younger folk wheeling XJ's, since they're still affordable. I don't know *too* many younger people who've gotten into things like JK's. While JK's are the new "thing", they're still not going to replace the affordable wheeler market.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Star wars broke the internet! Fandangos servers are down, AMCs site is down, and Alamo Drafthouse crashed when i was buying tickets....but i finally just bought 3 tickets for opening night of The Force Awakens!!!

I'm sure you're right in some ways, however, we can't deny the dying aspect of XJ's.

The vehicles that are older are being restored by older folk. Not a young buck first learning how to wheel.

I don't know, it would be hard to say that FB, which is quickly dying, is the reason for a dying online community. Who knows.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

^ you sir, are very unaware of the giant community accessible on FB and in meets. There are tons of xj's by young bucks currently.

Eta:

There are 622 members of the Colorado xj fb page. 622.

That's pretty a pretty clear indicator Mike/ got to get with the times guys.
Trust me I held out on Facebook for a long time

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yep, all it takes is a quick looks on Facebook to tell you XJ's are still relevant, and still HEAVILY used.

The difference between them and us...

They get out weekly...we barely get out.

Younger people want to get out and about, have fun, wheel, camp, etc.

They don't want to sit behind the keyboard and live vicariously through others wheeling trips.
