Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yeah, and I get the logic that parts are cheaper than labor, but only if you can get the parts... and he wanted them now, not tomorrow, not Monday.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Its getting harder to keep an older XJ on the road as a DD. Lack of proper fitting parts... my 01 XJ isn't as bad because it has more in common with newer ones, but Chrysler only has to legally make those available for another year... and that's only if they don't discontinue them first. Just ask anyone who had a 90 D250 6BT with a 727... that had a custom Dana 70 3.07 rear axle. If your gears go, you are done.

I have been pretty astonished at the asshattery on the Titan forums... Certainly not jeep dudes... I worry it's rubbing off :eyes:

I logged on for first time in a few months and now I remember why. They tease raptor owners a ton but holy moly. These guys are discussing ways to remove a unit bearing in less than 4 hours mentioning air hammers, chisels, removing entire knuckle, etc. It's crazy cringeworthy. I'd love led to log in and have at it for a few. Lol

California, the Promised Land:

I thought it was interesting that a uniformed officer was escorting. This should set precent that following law enforcement orders are not always legal so we have basis to challenge their orders... would help with the less than decent law.

I don't think you have a full understanding of what happened there.....

It wasn't a "uniformed officer" as in Police Officer. It was a traffic escort service using the required escort cars/motorcycles and uniforms that CA requires. The escort driver that was stopped was required to maintain a minimum speed for a procession on the highway and apparently, was not doing his job. CHP stopped him, found that he was not a licensed driver and his escort vehicle was equipped with illegal equipment.

CHP said that their Trooper told the other escort drivers to continue on and keep the procession moving. As with any large funeral procession, a minimum of 3 escort vehicles is required, more if depending on the number of intersections the procession needs to cross. Escort drivers "leap frog" as the procession goes, the lead stays the same, but all others jump ahead to stop traffic. It was the deceased's family that wasn't cooperating, choosing to stop and confront the CHP.

Some of the procession followed the other escorts and arrived at the funeral location.

I'm sure that CHP (as do most agencies) doesn't allow for their Troopers to take over or even participate in a funeral escort. So for that attorney to say he thinks the CHP should have escorted them there is him talking outside the CA law and or policy of the CHP.

I can't imagine the CHP ordered that entire procession to stop. I can see the potential for confusion - if the lead escort gets pulled over, what do the rest in the procession need to do? But from all the stories I read, CHP told the escort drivers to continue on and many funeral attendees in the procession decided to park and make a bigger deal of the situation.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Merkur's were fun -- same turbo-4 drivetrain as SVO mustangs in the mid-80's.

Saw this road test vid that was taken over in Europe with the prototype versions. Unreal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9piyKeiWjDg

The writer of that article summed up the very same concerns I had when I heard the Hellcat engine was going into the AWD SRT8 Grand....... how will the rest of the drivetrain handle that kind of power?

I just can't fathom the need for 700 hp on the street and the SRT8 Grand with 485 hp sure seems like more than enough to me on the road course.... I can speak with experience there... they're wicked fast and stick like glue.

I guess Jeep believes folks will pony up the $$$ to be able to do some 4-wheel drifting..... I sure don't envy the tire replacement costs......

Don't care doing it.

From what I've read it will have a 'launch control' type feature to prevent all the ass being put down in low gear.
