Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Just ordered some new parts for the 60 ...Yukon Hardcore locking hubs and some fresh rebuild bushings for the super joints ...Now I need to figure out what i'm going to do with the stock knuckles...beef them up or just buy aftermarket they make some nice stuff on pirate to beef them and then again Solid knuckles seem nice and priced well ... i guess if i'm taking the knuckles off i'd like to think i'm doing the work for an upgrade I looked at cranes knuckles ,but the 8620 steel seems tp put them a few hundred dollars ahead of the rest in price and from what i can see my stock knuckes are not cracked so solids should hold 42-44 swampers all day long ...now I need to figure out if i'm keeping the stock fuel tank or getting an RCI cell ...lol...I guess if the stocker does not look to ghetto it will stay since it's cheap and easy .

Yukon hardcore hubs...you'll love them.

Knuckles, don't bother beefing up the stock stuff if you have any funds.

I went Reid first, but I would go something with a keyed knuckle.

Crane is nice, but $$$. I went with SOLID knuckles and Artec High Steer Arms and couldn't be happer. 4 ARP studs, 2 GR8 bolts, a keyway, AND the knuckle and high steer arm are tied together with a 3/4" bolt. If I EVER break that, it's not the only thing that's going. After shearing my PSC arm off my Reid...keyed knuckle is the way to go!

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Haven't updated my XJbuggy build in a while...it's been "off to the side".

Kills me as I missed a wheeling trip this weekend, and am likely to miss a trip to Montrose for Memorial Day weekend...dammit.

I kicked some arse on wiring this weekend.

I now have functioning blinkers!

Brake light, tail lamps, headlights (high and low), and my DCControls fan controller should be done this week. From there I've just got my tranny fan (bypass switch), and stereo.

From there, the roof LED bar, front LED bar, front LED pods, rock lights, and dome lights can all be wired easily later :D

I'm stoked since I thought this was all going to be much more of a hassle and take longer than it did. I got it all done super clean with loom and couldn't be much happier with how it's coming :D

Also able to cut out a few more connectors and some more wiring to free things up.

I'm going to order the Solids today before I go back on the road ...Now I just need to think long and hard about how much I really like and want to keep my doors since I'm wanting a boatside ,but don't think a boatside where you keep the door is worth my time I think some rivets and snaps around where the door would go and a canvas would be good enough to keep the big rain and mud out ,but not sure if it's the way I want to go , But a nice high cut boatside would really allow the Jeep to fit through places it would otherwise just get stuck .

Search around on here and Pirate.

There are quite a few guys who've done pretty high cut boatsides and kept the door.

Usually requires trimming some off the bottom of the door, but it's been done.

What steering arms are you going with?

As I said, I love my Artec Arms.

Do the boatsides and keep the doors. Its not that much extra work to keep the doors operational, and the extra security plus keeping the weather out is pretty useful.

Older picture, but the boatsides are still the same.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

My date last night:

Getting a whole bunch of stuff finally wired.

Decided to ditch the old loom that was on there and go with split loom. SO SO much cleaner, nicer looking, and easy to work with.

Got a bit more wiring cleaned up and it's going to be 1000x better than it already was...SO happy. This is one of the first times I've enjoyed doing wiring, since it's all going great, and coming out looking very clean.

Also nice to ditch more useless wiring, connectors, etc.

not sure probably go with artec since later on i will go full hydro and I like the knuckle tie in ...since I never broke the stock Ford knuckle I'm sure these will never break, but the stocks always left me with a bad feeling thinking I could lose my wheel in this v-notch and thinking how much of a pita it would be to get it out with no wheel .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Why will no one buy my half built POS Miata!

Doesn't anyone understand that like is to short to make practical decisions!

Come one people, get out there and buy stupid stuff you don't have room or money for so someone else can have more money and space to buy another mans half done project.

It's a cycle gentlemen.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Um, finishing a project seems to practical?

I'd rather sell it for half of what it's worth to me and either make the big truck jump high and stuff or maybe pay off the house a bit or buy guns, idk money and space mostly.

I like to think I will finish a project someday but since the xj, I've been on a downward spiral.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Small, 1/2 Tom truck but longest heaviest thing I've owned, therefore big truck (bigger then my dads... hah, trucks bigger too)
