Re: The Colorado BS thread

It appears that the driver of that rig was just droppin it like it's hot.

I'm in town all week.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

See...it's not this dog's fault that he obviously heard a funky beat.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Doing a timing belt on the 2002 Subaru and figured I'd do the water pump as well. Last night a 6mm bolt stripped the block threads. I put in a slightly longer bolt hoping for fresh threads a bit deeper. It broke. Drilled it out this morning and tapped it to 8mm. It pulled the threads (at 2ft/lbs). Finally installed a heli coil, crossed my fingers and it torqued up to spec (8.7). What a PITA.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Stopped to eat dinner with Heather and then went back to the garage to install the belt and last idler pulley and be done for the night. The ****ing 10mm bolt for the pulley stripped the threads out of the block!! I was at 10ft/lbs and spec is 28. I am so pissed off right now. Looks like I'll be doing another heli coil tomorrow.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

They say death comes in threes. Apparently it is the same for bolts as well
My 67 chevy. Going to extract tomorrow and re-thread.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

What is it with bolts today? Between you and me that's like 4?!

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I had an early '80s Subie that stripped the threads where the head studs mount in the block. It seems that material has it's limitations. It seems Subaru has that material...

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Elguapo, lets have a picture of that bolt head, with all it's wonderful markings.
