Anybody know what the Colokum Pass out of Ellensburg is like?
Steve L. and I are planing a trip there Nov 5.
It says closed in winter and Not recomended for Passenger Vehicles.
So I guess we can`t take passengers :laugh3:

Hopefully Karl will see this... I'll shoot him an email. He has made the trip multiple times. He keeps pinging me every now and then about going, but it seems like I just haven't gotten around to a free day to do it when he has one.

He thinkis it's a good ride though.

Yeah I've been up there. Actually its out of Kittitas. Find your way out of town, follow road up to a game ranch or some other resort, then air down. Very rocky. steep, too. dont know how late it stays open depends on snow. Goes through some private land (I think) and state game lands. Nice trip will test out your rig's suspension.

On the other side, not very interesting. Road into Wenatchee takes you down through orchards then past Alcoa.

Thanks Karl,Steve Lewis tj@ NWFest came up with the Idea so now there might be 4 rigs from the w-side coming over for the day.We will see what happens.

What time of the year did you run it ? How long didit take you?

Not sure if I will go or not. I'm still flogging myself, er, I mean, studying for my exam on weekends. Not much fun.

Been smarting from money I've had to put into the heep recently. Not talking gas money. So I'm not real interested in taking it someplace or doing something that might break my daily driver.

I went July 4th weekend. I dont remember how long it took to go from one side to the other, but I did it in one day there and back, a full day trip.

Thought you could show us how you out did the guys at NW Fest with your driving skills. The next to stock rig vs lift and locked.
We could flog hasta ,degrade, mentally abuse you so that you wouldn`t miss the feeling your books are giving you.
We could even drag your heep :repair: ,I had to do that for Steve L. at Liberty ,I would do it for you :laugh3:

I don't honestly know yet Howard. The work on my XJ up north fell through again. I am looking to see what I can get done locally. I do have the CJ5, which is locked, and also has a winch on it. But the drive back from Wenatchee is a long one at 50mph. :) Not to mention uncomfortable. :) So will have to see.

Which way are you running it, from the south to Wenatchee, or from Wenatchee heading south? Or maybe both ways in one day?

Well looks like I can get part of the work done on Monday. What the heck, it's only money, argh. And may also be able to get a lockrite for the rear. Will have to see how the wallet looks. Waiting on a price for a front winch bumper w/tow_hooks. So anyway, I'll give it the old college try. :)

In the continuing saga, I've got the XJ set up for being worked on this coming Monday and Thursday at a local shop. Going with Detroit True-Tracs front and rear. That's what I'm used to as I've had those in my 2 other Cherokees, and my present CJ5. So now I'll just *have* to go out and play the weekend of the 29th to put some miles on those buggers and check them out. :) So that just leaves front tow points, and a CB and I can go play on Nov 5th.

We will run it from the south, and return to the south.
How far we make it will depend on the time it takes us :exclamati

Good. Where and what time for meeting up? Also, is this one of those "the more, the merrier" kinda things? I asked Dan, but he has to work that weekend. Jerry will most likely be riding with me.

I'm trying to talk Karl into taking a day of rest from the studies to relax his brain, he hasn't written it off yet, so hopefully he'll go too.

I have a feeling that the real determiner for all of us is going to be the weather!! If we get a bunch more rain, it could really turn into a challenging ride! :)

Ya got me... maybe Karl will have a suggestion.
Steve Lewis made a decision for this sat the 5th :We are leaving Fed Way Cosco 6;30, having breakfast at Snoq.pass @7:30 then, We are meeting at the truckstop,Flying J ? at the main exit to Ellensburg hope to be there 9:30 then to the Mud and Snow? :laugh3:

Well you guys have a ball in the mud and snow. :)

Got my rig back today finally. I don't think that the rear ring & pinion is set right..... too loose. Got a lock-rite in the rear, and a true-trac in the front. Have a couple of klunks going on up front too - suspension issues. Also have a vibration from the rear drive shaft, so that will be going back to the shop on Monday. Why Monday? The mech working on the rig won't be back until then. :( And of course, horror of horrors, I get it back and the temperature gage doesn't work. So gotta dink with that this week.
