Also, 98 XJ’s fuel delivery are problematic for many.

ummm do you have more info on that? Having a 98 XJ I do follow closely anything that crops up about them, and this is the first time I'm hearing about it. I'm curious to know where you got your info from.

Specifically, sending units faulty from the factory, and I believe there was a TSB on bad pumps. I'm pretty sure all the TJ pumps were recalled or TSB'ed because they were junk. I can personally attest to the sending unit prob. It failed (intermittent) 2weeks after I took delivery of my XJ.

TJ is a whole different animal...... Anyways, the way you made it sound it seemed like there is a whole series of problems detected or known. In any case, I checked alldata, and the closest I could find there were gurgling noises in the tank :D (seems people complained about that, and I thought it was a feature LOL)

P.S. Unless I missed it, I didn't really see any recalls or TSB's for TJ's either (in regards to fuel system problems that is).

TJ different animal? Not really. The OE supplier for all Jeep fuel pumps is Bosch and that’s a real problem as any VW owner can attest. Anything Bosch makes is absolute junk. I bought and sold a brand new 2000 jetta because of all the problems I had with it. And most if not all those items that failed were OE supplied Bosch. I’ve heard of more fuel pump problems on late model jeeps than anything else. Just my observation.

UPDATE- Running fuel pressure 46 PSI... Held to 40PSI for 30 minutes with engine off. Pump good. The problem? "Weak" coil? I've never had this happen where a coil would work intermittently. They've always died. I had a stock spare coil and installed. Fired right up. $100 spent on CPS I didn't need but problem solved nevertheless.

Glad to hear you got it fixed. Sometimes it is the least expected part that fails. I recently had an intermittent stalling problem when cold. It turned out to be the coolant temp sensor reading 30* when it was closer to 90*. It would never set a code either. Unfortunately it took a couple tries to fix it.
