CO 4x4.com problems?

I read on Pirate 4x4 that they were physically moving the servers this weekend. I haven't been able to get to the site either. Hopefully, by the end of today or tommorow it should be back.

Are any of you guys computer nerds? I'm still having problems with c4x4, but only at work. It works fine at home....but not at the office.

I think when they moved the servers....it screwed things up for me and where the actual name colorado4x4.org points.

I believe that the IP address is 66.151.149.70 , but that doesn't work for me here either.

Anyone have suggestions?

your boss found out you were surfing jeep sites all day and had the IT department block you
in an attempt to reclaim your productivity...

:D

It's possible but highly doubtful.

If that were the case they would just take all of it away....not just one site.

Now are you going to help me or not?! :laugh3:

Try these

Go to internet explorer.. open tools ----> internet opitons -----> There is a temporary internet files section.. open the settings button and set the radio button at the top to EVERY VISIT TO THE PAGE

THen click OK Now click the delete temorary internet files and check the delete all offline content box before click ok... this might freeze up for a bit.. be patient..

once it frees up click ok on the next window and try to got to CO4X4

If that doesn't work try this...

Go to your start menu click run

Type in CMD

Hit enter

Type in ipconfig /flushdns

Hit enter

type in ipconfig /registerdns

hit enter

Try CO4X4 again.. if that doesn't work contact your system administrator...
Generally if you're getting problems with a "page cannot be displayed error" it's because the old address that responds to the domain name CO4X4 is registered in your company's routers DNS..

if the router has the incorrect address saved you could be SOL until it refreshes the correct address from the next router up the line.

See, you're just the guy I've been looking for.....someone who knows what is going on. :)

However, both of those options didn't work. :(

It said something about letting me know if there are any errors in the registration of the DNS records in the next 15 minutes. So, maybe I have to wait until it's done?

It's just weird because it worked fine on friday.....come in monday (after c4x4 has server issues) and now no workie, workie. It's not just my computer either....I tried one of the other computers here at the office and it doesn't work there either.

Thanks for your help.....let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Well I was going to say try going to the website using the direct IP address but it takes you to a Web hosting site.. probably the one the CO4X4 uses... not sure.. it said a bunch of stuff about marines.. and website hosting.. I poked around a bit and it either the web host CO4X4 uses or it's the site that is now at CO4X4's old address....

I'm guessing the former..

If youre interested in how I got there

open Start
Run
type in CMD
hit enter
Type in ping www.colorado4X4.org
and hit enter

You'll either get a 69.50.190.34 and it will reply or youll get another address (probably the old CO4X4 address) and it will time out..

If it's the former issue you may still have the old page in your browser cache and a good log off log back on might do the trick... or you could go back up to my previous post and do the

ipconfig /flushdns

and then reboot..

If the address doesn't reply and you get a time out you'll either have to smack your network admin and ask him to refresh the router's route tables or just wait til it happens automatically probably twice a week or so..

if anyone who is more Cisco savy wants to break down how the routing table refresh works let me know...

And if your company is using a DSL or Cable broadband connection.. the router is actually the internet service providers equipment and is likely offsite...... which leaves you with very little in the way of options..

I'm just a PC tech that knows just enough to be dangerous :P

sounds like DNS propagation to me...

If I ping colorado4x4, I come up with 66.151.149.70 for the IP address and it times out.

If I go to the IP address that you typed in, then I go to Squad Engine....which is the page that I found when I looked up c4x4 on whois earlier.

We just have a Qwest DSL modem here.....and I have heard that they aren't very good about relocating sites like that. So, you guys just think I'm screwed until Qwest gets it figured out? If so, then I'll just wait and keep trying every now and then.

I guess I just want to make sure it's not something on my end.....

He won't have that problem. Brian deletes them on a daily basis to erase all his porn access.................. :laugh3:

Damn, who are you to be busting MY balls?

Actually, it took quite a while because I don't think I've cleared it out at all since I got this computer.

Sounds like the spirit of Qwest serivce includes scratchin" their unmentionables at the switch! :)

Heh..

I've heard that before too and I've had a similar issue at home when other sites relocated.... your nearest router probably still has the old DNS entry in the route tables and it's giving you the wrong address when you request it...

Funny though .. I'm on Qwest DSL at home and I'm fine.. Business grade too..

Maybe qwest likes to update their routers in different parts of town at different times to load balance.... although you'd think by now it would have updated.....

Ahaha, apparently no one. I've met you about 3 times.............

I think he was just eluding to your own internet porn usage...

kinda like the "pot calling the kettle black" statement aye?

It's ok kids.. no reason to get embarrased... Internet porn is a perfectly natural part of growing up!

I think we've met more than 3 times....and I've helped you on at least one project. It's not that I don't know who you are.....I just didn't think you'd be busting my balls for internet porn. :laugh3: :kissyou:

Citat3692,

Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

I have Qwest DSL at home too and it works fine....I guess I'll just wait it out and miss out on all the for sale stuff that I shouldn't be looking at anyway.
