I am under the impression that heim ends dont clunk like tres when they go bad however thats exactly what I have going on and it doesnt look like the frame bracket is loose havent been able to check the bolt for tightness yet and its definitly not in the steering...Anyone else ever had this happen to you???Should I be replacing the heim end or no???
thanks

ps- its a RE 1600 track bar about a year old. :rattle:

I wouldn't replace anything until you tighten all the bolts on the tracbar bracket. I don't know what heims do when they go bad.

I got RE (heim style) track bar. have some clunk in heim joint after 3 year of use/abuse. Just have to keep it lubbed all the time. It will last longer. RE has heims for 18-20 green. Gonna replace mine as soon as I get it.

A heim will clunk when it wears out (the teflon lining is worn). The RE trackbar does use a stock mount on the axle end, and that is very often the source of clunking as the way too small bolt wallows out the mount.

You'll need to have somebody turn the wheel while you look/listen for the clunk. Chock those wheels, though  . A wouldn't expect a one year old heim to be worn, but it is possible depending on both usage and where you live. Those of us in the dry Southwest tend to be able to run heims for years, and those in the Rust Belt tend to do better with johnny joints, which are enclosed, greasable spherical joints.
