Clothes dryer: Cracked drum, fixable?

The problem I see with those two ideas are adding material and causing the drum to be out of round. From what I saw just being a tiny bit thicker will cause issues. Of course you could add the reinforcement inside but then any imperfection can cause damage to clothes also. I am certainly no expert but just from what I saw it seems like it would be a real hassle to reinforce it without causing other issues.

I have my old drum, I want to play with it just to see what I can do maybe. I can pretty much remove the drum with a nascar pitcrew sense of speed now that I've done it enough times .
