Closed system to open whilst retaining closed rad?

Has anyone installed rad cap in a closed system plumbing?
I want to ditch the expansion tank but I have a new 3 core all metal rad that I want to keep.

So maybe a Moroso or similar type of t fitting with a rad cap provision inline of top hose.

Any suggestions?

I've not done it (still closed) but have seen it done. Yep, just "splice" in an inline filler neck in the upper hose. You'll still need an overflow tank.

I used this over flow tank...

I removed the renix pressure tank, and the shelf for that tank. I then mounted this new overflow tank on the space freed up on the inner fender well in the engine bay (rear right corner, where the old pressure tank was) I used a piece of sheet metal screwed to the inner fender well in the engine bay to provide a mounting bracket for this new over flow tank. For me I was replacing the radiator so got one with a filler car. but there is no reason why you can not use your renix type radiator with a filler cap spliced into the upper hose.
