Clockspring Compatibility

Do they have junkyards in fsdfrftgh? You can pull one in approximately 3 minutes using the $15 steering wheel puller tool from AutoZone, an 8mm nutdriver, and assorted socket wrenches, ratchets, and extensions. Might need a long-shank phillips, T15, and T20 as well but I forget.

They charge me $15 to $20 depending on the person at the counter and what day it is.

EDIT: Also, what year do you need one for? (95-96 or 97-01) And you really should post in your local chapter's classifieds :spin1:

Here's a question regarding pulling from a junkyard: I have a 99 w/cruise, so I have to look for a cherokee with cruise, but without airblag deployed, right? I think up here, most junkyards want to try and sell the whole steering column instead of just the one piece. Just wanna make sure I know the exact condition the steering column has to be in for the right part.

You're correct about without airbag deployed - if the airbag deploys, the high current squib firing pulse often burns out the wiring traces in the clockspring in the process.

Yes, you need one from an XJ with cruise.

yeah the one i pulled was from a jeep that was hit hard from the back so the airbag was still undeployed. I just made a steering wheel puller out of a short piece of flat stock with three holes drilled into it, worked great and saved me a little money. I think I paid $25 for mine. If they only let you take the whole column might be worth it to check around and see if anybody would be interested in the rest of the parts. Good luck!
