Clean your truck tech

What do you guys use for cleaning the inside of your truck. I cant seem to get the dash too look good, seems like the dust settle into the tiny little crevices and I cant get to it. What works worth anything? Ive tried armorall but that just seems to work for a few days and dries out.

A scrub brush with the same abrasivness as a tooth brush, only a little bigger or you'll be at it all afternoon, and windex. If the dash is discolored or stained and it's not just dirt, duplicolor is making UV resistant flexible spraypaints for vinyl and plastic that's affordable. I've used the blue with decent results, but wouldn't go this route unless your dash seriously looks like an @$$ sandwich. It's a lot of work, and scrubbing it a good bit is easier.

Using armorall or formula 2001 or whatever to protect it so it doesn't fade or crack is good prevention though!

Whoa there buddy! This is a Jeep site, not a Concourse Prep Forum. We actually use our stuff and our version of a show and shine is when one of our fat friends bends over <shudder> !

Seriously though, Armor All wipes work pretty good, as well will Pledge and a rag.

Armorall, Formula, etc are all bad for plastic in the long run, they displace the natural lubes in plastic with a synthetic. Once you stop using them for any time they dry out and start cracking. I use a brush on a vacum, stiff small paint brush for cracks, wipe down with windex and some water, done. I also use soft cloth on the gauge cluster, paper towels will scratch it.

For trail dust inside the XJ, one word; Swiffer. If it really has to get more than just dusted, I use Murphy Oil Soap and a cotton towel or rag. The soap doesn't happen very often; three maybe four times a year.

The undercarriage though is a different story. It gets pressure washed after each time on the trail. If there is anything under there that is going to become a problem, I want to be able to see it. When I'm working underneath the rig I don't want funk falling into my eyes or in the way of what I'm working on. In addition, grit has a way of making the moving parts a little pissy.

EDIT: The engine compartment get kept very clean as well.

compressed air and some all purpose cleaner do pretty good to get the crevises clean. just make sure you do that first and then wipe down everything else cause you are going to make a mess with the air. the air cans for cleaning computer keyboards works good too if you don't have access to a compressor.

Armor all should work longer than a few days, what year xj? if old enough its probably dry and absorbing a good amount of it, thats what my flares do.

I see some clean XJ's here in Tucson but I think the biggest challenge they see is the speedbump in the mall parking lot (like my wifes grocery getter)!
