Coastie, I'm sorry that you and many others around the world (and I'm not just talking about military, but everyone separated from family and friends this season) have to work. There are some jobs that don't stop because there is a Holiday Keep up the good work! Hoepfully you'll be able to catch up with them on the next holiday

Thanks Zuki, I did make it home for a week during thanksgiving so that was nice.

Oh and I wasn't complaining just trying to point out the to OP that he should apperciate his family more and not curse any reason for him to see his whole family.

But I guess if all he has to complain about is a holiday then he's doing pretty good :doh:

Seems to me that you, just like millions of other people, are forgetting the true reason we celebrate Christmas. The birth of Christ.

If that was true, we'd be celebrating Christmas in September - when he was actually born.

let's put it this way...I ignore any "happy b-day", "merry xmas", "happy easter" BS...it's all a waste of time and a show of bravado.


these holidays are all just reasons to get things or give things....I don't see a reason to be greedy and ask anyone to give me anything, and I also don't see a reason for them to expect me to give them something. it's about earning what you have...I've earned what I have, and I'm not about to give someone who doesn't even have a job a gift for no apparent reason, when she goes out and blows everyone else's money anyways.


so. yes, people wish me happy b-day, etc. but I choose to ignore it and not celebrate it. I'm here. big deal.

and yes, I'm single, which probably stems off my negativity and utter lack of care for what anyone else thinks.

Wait...So we don't celebrate Christmas at all to celebrate the birth of Christ? I mean, no one knows the true birth date of Christ and it is indeed probably closer to the fall months. For 24 years I always thought this was a celebration of the birth of Christ. Thank you so much for opening my eyes. From now on I will no longer celebrate this pagan holiday known as Christmas. I will no longer put up that devilish tree and lights. From this day forth I shall celebrate Christmas in September. All thanks to your kind wisdon and compelling intellect.

LOL @ your comprehension. I never said Christ was born on December 25th. I never said Santa and a tree have anything to do with the birth. I said the reason for Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Christ. Is this new to you?

You said... if this was true we should celebrate in September. With that reasoning we move the entire Christmas holiday to the month of September... Santas and all.

Yeah, I kinda miss cutting down a fresh tree every year. Out here though, it just isn't happening, unless you want an ugly mesquite tree in your living room....so we went with a nice fake "Colorado Pine" too. Pre-strung with the lights already. Gave me extra time to drink egg nog coffee

I didn't have a good Christmas at all, being 1100 miles from home and having to stand duty on top of that sucks but what could I do about it? Log onto and complain about it? That would make me seem like a douche...

jeepcomj, I got what I needed and gave back as much as I could. I wanted some Carhartt insulated overalls. That is the only thing I asked for but wasn't the only thing I got go lock yourself in a cage or go wheeling to relieve some stress. I respect your opinion of christmas but If it wasn't for this Holiday I wouldn't see a lot of my family members spread across the US.

What's wrong with a mesquite tree? Are you mad because it isn't a nice symmetrical cone shape? Did it dull the chain saw and hurt your hands when the ax bounced off of it? Maybe it just doesn't smell like a pine tree should?
