anyone else just LOATHE the xmas season?


I'm talking Grinch style.

I can't stand xmas music (will turn radio off sooner than listen to it), decorations, outfits, shopping, gift exchanges, or even being with my disfunctional family on xmas.

xmas trees suck...ornaments are not only a waste of money, but a waste of space the other 50 weeks of the year. trees are messy, fake trees are too fake, everything takes too much time/effort to set up.

everything is closed on xmas too....I really could have used a bank being open today so I could cash my worthless $900 paycheck which work post dated (which is completely illegal btw) for today and thus worthless to me to even do shopping in the first place...


the holiday sucks. it's too hard to shop for other people when they wont' give you a straight answer on what they want...and low and behold, you can tell they're disapointed when they open their gifts...of course, then there's you, just thinking in the back of your head..."well if you weren't a 'tard and had just told me what you wanted, you'd have what you want"


I don't like getting gifts. I never ask for anything, always say don't get anything or I'll break it/return it. if it's forced upon me, I'd rather have the cash than a lousy present that I didn't want anyway....no offense, I know it's the thought that counts, but the thought is frankly worthless when those pants I get just don't fit, or I already have this that or another thing...


IDK, I guess I'm a complete ass about this entire holiday...but I'd rather everyone save their money, get what they want with their own money, and pretend to be surprised when they unwrap their own gift in the morning.

I like being around my family...but they're really like a bunch of idiots around xmas. no one can make up their minds, they get stressed about nothing, and a fist fight almost always breaks out. I'd rather be alone.

I somehow am like you, I am only deaf guy in my whole family and my families are falling apart, we dont communicate very much which in result we dont really know what they want for xmas.

BUT I still have good time because I try to find a way to have good time and it works.

I dont like your point of xmas being worthless though, its something for most people but not for everyone though.

I don't necessarily HATE the Christmas season. I kinda enjoy the music and decorations. However, I do not care for the selfish attitude that a lot of people have this time of year. I want this, I want that. The "What did you get for Xmas" threads.

I did not receive a single materialistic Christmas present this year. Yet I feel content just spending time with my friends and family. And I only bought one present, for my parents.

I am not a particularly religious person. But I do know the true meaning of the holiday. And commercialization is not it.

I went to a catholic school. I see no reason to continue practice of a faulty religion.


I cannot prove nor deny the existance of Jesus. something bigger is out there...so I live my life with good morals and general common sense knowing I'll die someday and find out. until then, there's no sense making my mind up about something of which I have no scientific proof.



anyways, xmas is not about the gifts...which is why I don't like buying them. like I said, people (at least in my family) need to keep their money, get what they want, and just be friggin' happy to be around each other...rather than ripping each other's heads off.


unfortunately, my mother is so flippin' crazy that she ruins EVERYONE'S christmas. I know I can't stand the woman around any holiday, and barely so when holidays are nowhere in the near future.

Some years I can't stand the thought of the holidays. Some days I'm frickin' Clark W Griswald... Somewhere in between this year. My kids (at 20 and 21 dare I call them kids?) prefer gift cards. Makes my life real easy. For the boy, Home Depot, Checker and clothing cards, the daughter, all clothing... And Itunes for both. I helped with the tree, but my wife and daughter did the rest of the inside decorations. I HATE nonstop XMas music three months before XMas. I hate crowds (actually have panic attacks, I'm 6'3" and nearly 300#, it wouldn't be pretty)... I hate that I'll be out early in the morning to get some half price crap, but then, I am a cheap bastard. Best thing about the end of the Holiday Season? People can be normal for the next 9 months...

I feel pretty much the same way but I'm not angry at it. xmas is for children, I don't have any of my own, and my nieces are days away, so I buy my parents something small and treat it like a day off. The trappings are a waste of time and money and all the public stuff is an annoyance after that

My parents make my life miserable!! Oh and holidays on top of that! They call 3 days in before christmas to "suprise" us then ask/expect us to pick them up at the airport 2 hours away. Stay at my house, when I already have company and only one guest room, Then drive them to their time share 2 hours in the other direction , leave them there for a week, come back and get them, stay at my house again, then take them back to the airport!!!!!!!!!! Total driving 960 miles! With their 3 houses and 12 cars back home they have the money to rent a car! So I told them Id pick them up at the airport bring them back to my house and then theyd be on their own with renting a car from there, and boy I was the worst kid in the world! She b*tched me out every phone call prior to me picking them up, so I said when you land ask me nicely! and Ill be on the way to pick you up! I never got a call to pick them up and no show at christmas either, no one has heard from them and at all? yay!!
I see why my wife like them so much they did the same thing on our wedding day!!!!!!!

I didn't have a good Christmas at all, being 1100 miles from home and having to stand duty on top of that sucks but what could I do about it? Log onto and complain about it? That would make me seem like a douche...
