Chevy V8 into XJ?

No doubt a repeated question for this forum...I have a Chevy V8 - works great - in my '86 cube van. Van's frame is shot. I have a pretty much a worn out I6 in the '88 XJ. What a co-inky-dink. What am I getting into trying this swap?

Check with Advance Adapters for a premade mount kit, and take a 700R4 out of a 4WD for a transmsission.

If you're really interested in the swap, there is a Yahoo! group dedicated to the idea (http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/v8cherokeexjowners2/) that may be of help.

I think you'll find that most of us here are pretty well sold in the inline six (and with good reason!) but that a SBChevvy swap isnt' impossible.

I was considering doing the same thing in my old '85 (now junked) and my local Jeep shop (good guys) talked themselves blue in the face convincing me not to. This coming from a shop that would have made a lot of cash if I would have tried it. So, to pass on their recommendations, just don't try it.
