My work van is a 1993 Chevy G20 (3/4 ton) Cargo van with a 305, auto tranny and no a/c. Roughly 185K miles. Just recently (about 2 months ago) replaced the radiator, the water pump, and the fuel pump. Nothing else touched by me but the alt looks real new.
The questions:
1. After the rad/water pump the van seemed to take longer to warm up to operating temp. Now that the cold weather has hit it really takes longer (almost 15-20 mins).
2. Hadn't tried the heater/defroster until now but they seem to work wierd. If I use the heater the van NEVER warms up. The air coming from the vents is ~70F. If I let it warm up first (which I usually do) then using the heater causes the temp to drop. If I use the defroster the van takes an extra 5 mins or so to warm up but does blow nice warm air....nowhere near as hot as before the replacements tho. And using the defroster does not drop the engine temp. No noticable spots under the van, no cloudy oil. Did seem to be loosing coolant but it has stayed steady for three days now.
3. Oil pressure has always bugged me. At idle it sits just over the red on the min end. While driving the oil runs almost max on the scale all the time. No sounds from the motor.
