cherokee modification advice

i have been wanting to mod my 98 cherokee for awhile, my friend has a grand cherokee 1997 with a 3 inch body and 3 inch spacers all round on 35s and i want mine to be as big as his. i was thinking about adding the body lift but i was wondering how hard it is to put on. i know i will need an adjustable traction bar for the rear and a longer control arm on the front. i want to fit 35s so if anyone has advice please reply thanks a bunch dudes.

do you have a cherokee or a grand cherokee, as far as i know you can't body lift a Cherokee, due to it being uni-body, you can only suspension lift it.

shackles in the front? you mean coil spacers right? as for the body lift, its personal preference i dont know of anyone who runs one on this board...

Your friend is pulling your leg. There is no way he can have a 3" body lift on a '97 Grand Cherokee. They are unibody just like our XJs. There ain't no way your gonna fit 35s on 3" of lift on a Cherokee either unless you want to do major surgery on your fenders. The rear of the cherokee has no trackbar. What are the specs on your rig.

ok lets settle this.....LOOK UNDER YOUR XJ and it should be obvious that it is a unibody. and plus a 4" body lift for any vehicle wouldnt be safe, maximum i would want on a jeep like a tj would be 2".

Listen pal there was no XJ ever built that had a frame so a body lift is impossible. A 97 Grand Cherokee is a unibody-I stake my life on it. You can't possibly have a shackle lift on the front of a cherokee either.

you my friend have recieved some ill advice somewhere along the line. cherokees are a unibody even if it is a 98. you can put a max of a three inch spacer kit which can be a coil spacer and shackle with block or add a leaf. your best bet to get a cheap lift and fit 35s is to get a 4" suspension lift with a 2" spacer kit. there are no such things as a body lift for cherokees except pre 87

wow....the unibody is a "frame" that is directly welded to the body in which the body and the frame work in unison to support each other. as for your mad wheeler friend i do belive he is incorrect...unless you wanna drill out 100 spot welds and weld some rectangular tubing as a spacer...

Actually its except pre 84. Thats when the downsized XJ started production.
