cheap to no $$ mods?

hood vents.

Or raise the back of the hood.

4 $.39 1/2" plastic washers, a buck worth of bolts and about 10 minutes for that project.

Lowered my underhood temps dramatically and lowered my IAT from 160+ to rarely higher then 110.

great idea. how about raising the hood and vents. cant hurt right? i live in central california and it gets well over 105 for about 4 months of the year. anything to lower temps.

Or you could remove the weather stripping at the back where the hood meets the cowl and bend the lip down. That's even cheaper.

Switches are always fun and cheap to install, I like the waterproofing idea mentioned earlier in this thread, and another great idea is to tighten up all the frontend nuts and bolts to spec. This can save a major hassle down the road.

Maybe flush the radiator, that's next to free, and you could also replace fuel lines, things of that nature. Basically, in my downtime I like to replace or repair CHEAP stuff that can really screw me on the trail haha.

I like lights. I always grab the lighted rear view mirrors from the nicer S-series trucks. The little map lights are sweet as they are generally below the drivers eye's so you will not be blinded. Do grab all the parts to it. wires are run up the head liner a ways.

Anyone have install instructions on putting in a 12v to the rear? Or another cigarette lighter?

I'm definitely interested...

While you are at it put a heatshield between the intake and header, and wrap your fuel injectors.
What do you use to wrap the injectors? I've never even heard about that. Interesting idea.

Can you elaborate Z?
What are all the advantages?

The computer "sees" a cooler intake charge and gives slightly more fuel.

The intake manifold gets severly heat soaked sitting above the header/exhaust manifold. With the intake air temp sensor threaded into the intake it also gets heat soaked. No matter how cool the air coming is, the sensor reports a hotter temp to the computer.

Moving the sensor to the plastic part of the air intake fixes this.
