Cheap 2.5L performance enhancements?

Any little tricks anyone may have learned or used to get the 87 2.5L TBI to seem to have a little more uuumph. like maybe some timing advances or maybe some sensor mods to trick the computer a little?

Start off by doing a good tune up, use factory OEM parts, clean the TB out of carbon and dirt. They do make headers for them and you could do a full exhaust with low restriction cat. Remember, it is only a 4 banger and has ALOT of low end grunt for it's size but will never be as strong as the 4.0 without alot of work on the internals. No miracle cures for cheap....
I have two 97TJ's with them and they run really well but just do not have the top end on the hiway like my 98XJ 4.0...
Oh, you might want to consider a good top engine cleaning too....

Bore the TB. Old Man IMSC can help you on that one! The header, and bigger exhaust. Then there is the cam that was available and shows up on ebay every so often!
