Chattanooga/Northern GA, August 9th

I'm wanting to get a group together for some wheeling in the Chattanooga or north Georgia area on the 9th. Not sure what's in that area, so I'm open to suggestions.

Suches is covered in National Forest Trails that go all over the place. I lived just south of there for a few years and loved it. Choccolocco is a nice ride too. I may be tempted to go to the Suches ride though, haven't been there in years.

Check out Wildcat Campground. Cool place in Suches and there's a bunch of trails in the area. The gas station up the road sells maps of all the trails.

Here's the folder of pictures from out 2013 and 2014 trip to the same place.

Not a lot of wheeling happens on these trips but there's some. As much as you'd like, anyway. More of a camping trip for the family.

I'm ready to get back out there for 2015. It's a fun trip that you should attend. Sorta off topic but that's my experience with the area.

Suches it is then, August 9-10. Is there as least some challenging terrain out there?

Who's AMC Eagle is that? I could swear I saw that exact same one at the car show in Tullahoma a few weeks back, same roofrack, axles, front bumper tubes and everything.

Awesome, that's one! Dayton, in which state?

I don't remember the guys name. It's got a 5.3 under the hood.

It was pretty cool.

Terrain, nothing to challenge your Jeep that I'm aware of. I'm sure there's something but I couldn't tell you where it is. When I go on trips like that I drive the little Jeep on 31's.

I'd be in for that. Suches isn't too far from me and I haven't ridden anything over there at all.

That being said, Bell Mnt. & the Charlie's Creek area are pretty nice rides and both can easily be done the same day. They're not too awfully challenging but at least 4wd would be needed in a couple of spots. Glore Rd. (Bend 'N Hickory Gap) in the Toccoa area is an okay ride with lots of v-notches and one rock outcropping to play on. But I've been there and done that on a few occasions so new terrain would be a refreshing change. Also War Woman in the Clayton area is supposed to be a decent ride, but I've not ridden there yet.

I'm assuming you mean Clayton as in the way north county near NC? I've never heard of War Woman, I have a friend that lived in Rabun and rides FS roads all the time. He might know of some special spots.

Bell mtn has a really nice view at the top, and like Mike said, all of those places could be done in a day.

Wish I could go do something, but I'll probably have to work.

Sounds good to me.

Will, War Woman is on the east side of 441 close to Clayton (yes the one in extreme N GA). Your FS map will have it on there. Like I said, I've never been but have heard everything from it's a nice ride in the woods, to it's a challenge so it could be anything in between, but I plan on checking it out at some point.
