This is chassis 015 that I helped build back in the mid 90's while working for PPI. Sponsored by Toyota and driven by Ivan "Ironman" Stewart.

That truck was so advanced that I'd bet if Ivan entered this years 1000 he'd probably win.

The chief engineer on the project was Ted Mangles (RIP). In case you haven't heard of Ted, he along with Vic Wilson, won the inaugural Baja 1000 in a Myer's Manx in 1967. I was 5 years old.

Also Ted owned a fiberglass fabrication/boat shop in Costa Mesa back in the day. He was commissioned to build a handful of small reliable automobiles for some guy named Walt Disney.

Anyway 015 hasn't been raced in over 12 years so Tommy Morris at TM1 Motorsports decided it was time to wake the beast. Tommy was race manager at PPI during the mid 90's.

He took the truck home (imagine having a $650,000 one of a kind automobile parked in your garage), and stripped it bare. Then he built it all back up.

Here are some vids of the fastest man in the desert driving the fastest truck ever built for Toyota:

Also if you go here you can see some of my handy work. I did all of the machine work on the transmission with exception of the gear train. The entire housing started out as a solid billet of aluminum.
