i've been trying to get into the whole music thing a little more. plus trying to pick up any odd job i can for some extra cash... why do they call it "extra money" ?
but seriously folks. i've written 3 songs and recorded another that i co wrote with jana.
just been trying to focus my attention elsewhere.
started geocaching, its a little tough when our phones don't give our positions accurately. untill yesterday jana's phone actually said the cache itself was moving around! we just had to use mine.
like going down to alabama for 2 weeks to work on a house for 350 bucks and come home christmas eve...
or there was the day i drove down to spring hill to help a guy set some posts for a deck. had to wait for the wood till noon, he dug all of the holes in the wrong places, and had to help him anchor the boards to the house..... after all was said and done i got about 30 bucks for that.
then there was the trans swap in an astro van. got 100 bucks for that. done a few brake jobs that turned out being for free.
after that i got the privilege of rebuilding the front of a totaled 2002 ford explorer.
got 170 bucks for that with the promise of a whopping 50 bucks extra when he gets it.
oh yeah...and tack on that his old bumper didn't have fog lights. this one did. and he wanted them hooked up to his headlight switch. so that was included in the 170 bucks too.
next he takes on an engine job in a 99 dodge caravan, completely seized up.
he doesnt have a lift and so we have to pull it from the top i get everything unhooked and ready to pull when it dawned on me that i cant pull the torque converter bolts so the whole tranny and everything has to come out together.
did that. while it was out had to replace the water pump and timing belt make sure this "new" engine from the wrecking yard is going to be ready when we put it in. its a 95 so i had to swap out the flywheel and any sensors that were different and injectors and fuel rail and the cooling system on these things is a flippin joke.
it takes a week after all the waiting around for parts, waiting around for bossman, trips to the wrecking yard, trips to the parts store because he forgot to order oil.
the MOST pita engine swap i've ever done, at first he said the job pays 11 hours but he'd give me 15. then he ends up saying he'll give me an extra 100. when all was said and done he told me that he was just going to have to take it in the shorts on this job and give me 300.
when i'm the one that did 99% of this swap.
he was spent all week doing tune ups oil changes and brake jobs.... which for some reason he spent two whole days doing brakes on the front of a Neon...
on top of this he tells me he still owes me the extra 50 from the explorer.
well the "new engine" that i put in has a cracked block. owner man says he's not going to pay till its right but he will pay for the extra labor to change it out.
right now i have 100 dollars in hand from that job.
and i'm not feeling very optimistic.
the only regular income i have right now is running karaoke tuesdays and i'm about to start thursdays too.
luckily shrek brought me in on a job he got installing gps in school buses at the fairgrounds.
WHEN that money comes in that will be an awesome payday but i've been hearing its more than a month away.
ok i'm done....
