:D The discussion of having a calender of runs we want to do is on our minds. Thre are already good suggestions out there. I am fairly new to wheeling and therefore do not now many trails. I feel that we should do the Usal Coast one again (I couldnt go last year). I hope we do ot let tis drop off like we normally do. Thanks!

 I just had a long post that it timed out on  so now I have to retype it

anyhow

We have the march run underway
april is Johnson
june 20-22 Jes volunteered a backwards con run.
Aug 1-3 Richard invited us on a swamp run.

In this post Some good things were outlined.

http://www.naxja.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1144&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=10

Keven put up a tenative schedule.

This is what we've done in the past. This is just a place to start.

Jan - Winter Fun Festival
Feb - Morman Emigrant Trail
Mar - Usall Trail?
Apr - Red Bluff area?
May - Hollister?
Jun - Highlanders poker run (Kyburz) + Snake Lake?
Jul - Rubicon, Barrett or Fordyce
Aug - Same as above + Swamp Lake
Sep - Hell Hole
Oct - ????????????
Nov - BOTW + ?????????
Dec - Toy Run, Snow runs + ??????????

I suggest we use this as a starting point and at the meeting put down a run to the month. From there an individual organizer can be assigned to each month to determine the best weekend, necessary rig modifications, meeting times/places, maps, etc, The individuals should all be volunteers and hopefully nobody will have to double up(even though Jes allready has). Once we get the calender setup a post could be put up to get volunteers for the runs.

I Think its good to have a month, trail, and organizer assigned even though I think it doesn't have to be set in stone, perhaps the organizer change the location or even date as they get closer to get more participants.

Unfortunatly I won't be able to make the meeting, but I will volunteer to organize a run.

I'll volunteer for Dusy/Ershim, I know I won't be able to make the Swamp Run :(, I'm thinking the 3rd weekend in Aug. That way if you can't make it Swamp or if you want something different. Let's go have some fun!

Gary's right, fill the calander. Volunteer, to organize, doesn't mean you'll have to be the trail master. I think we all just want to spread the work. :D

I will defiantely take on one to organize, beleive me you dont want a deaf blind man leading just the blind. With an events calender it gives me more time to prep the wife for the weekend before she steals it and makes me fix something.

I think it might help alot of people decide whether they want to go do trails they've never done before, if someone familiar with trail gives some sort of rating or "highly Recommended" mods to run the trail. I know I'm stock as can be right now but I'll still do anything I can, even if I have to make wife stack rocks! Oh I hope she doesn't read this

Just kidding honey - I love you :D

Anyways, know what I mean?

EDIT: Oh yeah, Isn't October Moab? Who's even toying with the Idea of going?

I want to see you wife stack rocks, I'll even take pictures! :P

I think Oct is already taken, but an alternate can be suggest for those who might not be able to afford the time or money to go to Moab.

When people volunteer to host a run, they will start a separate thread and do some research fo the area (asking ?'s onthe board, google). If they have no experience on the trail, then ask for some else to be the trailmaster/leader. Maybe the trailmaster/leader might not have direct experience but may be one of our very own veterans in SC(Farmer Matt, Crash, Jes, Seanp, GaryE, Sacto), please don't be offended if I left anyone out, but Farmer Matt & GaryE were included this time.

Just an idea here. Why don't we each pick a month, a trail and lead it? There could also be alternate trails for those who can't make the hard ones.

I am digging seeing y'alls motivation and I look forward to getting out to a Sierra Chapter event someday.

Keep up the good work!

Nevada run

Hi everybody! I'm new to the forum and eager to meet and wheel with some of the good folks from NAXJA. I just moved down to Reno from Seattle, but I grew up just over the hill in Auburn, CA. My rig is pretty much stock and I'm not too experienced, but I'd love to lend a hand doing any leg work for a trip in the Reno area. I've just been bumpin' around on the Mt. Rose massif so far, so I don't know too many local spots. If anyone else does I'd be happy to check 'em out, talk to the BLM/USFS or scope out a meeting place, whatever it takes.
Hope to meet you guys soon.

Okay, here's what I will be doing so far...

Johnson Valley next weekend
May 26-whenever BOTW2 then some AZ trails.
June 20-22 Rubicon
August 1-4 Swamp/Dinkey Creek
October 3-13 MOAB!!!
October ? Rubicon cleanup
November ? Johnson Valley

Probably every other weekend from June to August I'll be heading up to the Sierras for small informal "gettin' it" runs on the Rubicon, Fordyce, or BLT.
I think Ivan wanted to do the Usal Lost Coast run again in May if there is enough interest, I had fun with the guys last year but I'll be in Colorado/New Mexico this year.
We need more people willing to step up and lead trail runs that arn't hard core. There's a plthora of suitable trails in the Sierras that people with stock to 3" lifted Jeeps can enjoy.
It would be nice if we could do a run where one group could run Fordyce and another group run the Sierra Trek's "long wheelbase trail"(suitable for stockers with optional obstacles) then meet up at Meadow Lake for a BBQ. Only problem with this idea is the unpredictability of Fordyce Creek and we need someone to scope out the other trail.
Just some thoughts.

There has been plenty of talk about going to Moab in Oct. In fact, I'm counting on the Sierra chapter to run the vehicle show......organize and do the judging. :)

Where do you guys wheel in the Winter in Norcal? I have the Northern California trail book that has like 250 trails from Fresno to the Oregon border. Most of these trails though are suggested to be run in dry months. I need to get some wheeling in this winter. JeepFreak was trying to get something going maybe early Feb. I have a winch on my rig, but would like to go in at least a small group of xj's. Is there anything planned before now and spring?
