Cash 4 Clunkers top 10

I just drove by the Kia of Greenville lot today and they had a XJ on thr ramp painted with cash for clunkers ads. Looked to be around a 95 or so. It brought a tear to my eye....

I haven't decided what sticker to put on the back window on the 89 I am building. Help my decide between either:

"My clunker can drive over your Prius"
or
"Prius = Speedbump"

There is a 97+ painted up right down the street from the shop and I went and asked how much it would cost to buy it. They kinda laughed... I didn't.

this makes me very sad. my cherokee is a total p.o.s. by most standards, even by jeep standards, but to me she is solid gold. my wagoneer fits the clunker bill, too, but i get no satisfaction out of driving anything but my jeeps. i would rather trade my testicles than my jeeps. not that i even want another vehicle, though. i have a good, dependable daily driver that gets crazy good gas mileage, but i when i drive it, it doesn't make me smile, or even make bystander cringe like my cherokee. when at least one of my jeeps run, i hardly even look at the little subaru. i guess my point is that if somebody would trade off their jeep, they aren't a jeep person anyway. i just wish they knew our pain at the thought of destroying that incredible straight six...

It's truly pathetic that the federal govment thinks that continuing to operate on the "debt is the best economy philosophy" will work as it has in the past. The cash for clunkers is one thing. What about all the other issues they're passing. All I can say is that I'm going to keep driving my jeeps, no need to be a sheep led to the slaughter and buy a new car. Do people think that for the HIGHER payment and HIGHER insurance the "BETTER" gas milage will be enough? Pathetic how just because of the IMAGE that a new car provides causes lots of people across the nation who can barely afford to live, they jump into a debt just because of some ill thought Fed scheme

not just that... how about the billion-plus of YOUR money payinf for this crap.... the gov haas too many people convinced that they need a handout to live its truly pathetic what goes on these days

Don't get me started Doug. Single + make a good living = NO TAX RETURN. I pay more taxes than I was MAKING sometimes in the navy. and I get almost nothing back from the federal. So on top of all the other crap that just ticks me off.
People need to have some pride in themselves and stop asking everyone else to support them.

to piss off all the new trade in, hybrid owners i changed my plates yesterday to

C1UNK3R

an made a vinyl decal that says "my jeep burns what your hybrid saves"

i'm sure i'll get some nasty looks and i'm just gonna smile and wave

oh and my jeep is efficient! at traveling off road!

very cool. screw the government. there are some good things about government, but this is not one of them. i'm not a racist, by any means, but if the south had won the civil war, only some states would be screwed, haha!(state's rights, not slavery, of course)
:moon:burn it all down.:firedevil

Not to get off of the government-bashing subject, but I've just gotta call BS on that list. Anyone notice that the Explorers go by model years and nothing else does? Time magazine's top 5 list:

1: Ford Explorer
2: Ford F150
3: Jeep Grand Cherokee
4: Jeep Cherokee
5: Dodge Caravan

I think that list that's being forwarded to everyone's e-mail boxes was started by someone with an obvious axe to grind against the Explorer :laugh3:

Okay, continue the discussion with no further interuptions from me.....;)

The rules say that the engines have to be filled with sodium silicate (basically liquid glass according to Time). Then the vehicles can be sold to the junkyard and they have 180 days to sell parts from the vehicle, then it must be crushed and shredded. So you've got the next few months to get out there and peruse the yards for what appears to be an oncoming glut of Explorer 8.8's.
