Cant Believe it....

Another 20 minutes and they might have had all 4 tires. Sad, but true!

A guy I used to work with lost his rear wheel off his truck in the parking lot just as he pulled into work. He only lives about 10 miles from work. He checked his other wheels on his truck and the lugs were all loose. He checked the lugs on his sons car and another of his vehicles parked at his house and they both had loose lugs. Someone loosened the lugs of all his vehicles while they sat in his driveway. He never found out who did it.

A few years ago, before I escaped the Chicago area, I was walking down the hill early in the morning from my g/f's apartment. There was an Eclipse in the parking lot, no longer resting on 2 mechanic's jacks, no rims or tires. My g/f's windows were open all night, almost in direct sight, less than a hundred yards away, and we never heard a thing.

We had some twits in the neighborhood that did the same thing, twice, did my sons TJ first and a rear came off at 40mph while my daughter was driving out for pizza for lunch for us, she got it stopped. Second time 6 months later she was in her TJ and lost a front at about 30 going up a hill on a 4 lane road. She called me and told me what happened, I checked my lugs on my XJ before heading out with a floor jack and extra lug nuts, all 4 of mine were loose, when I got to hers all 3 remaining wheels lugs of hers were loose. This was the second call to the state police and they said 'we can't do anything' I said ok but as far as I'm concerned it's attempted murder, next time I call you might want to bring the coroner... the six month window of it not happening was when the two brothers were in 'detention' or prison boot camp. We were not the only ones either so now we knew who was responsible. Suddenly there were alot of people sitting outside at nite, in the dark with their firesticks. The family moved very quickly after that.

What part of Chicago did you live in, I had the lugnuts come loose on my Lebaron and Jeep in the summers of '02-'03 (once each summer on each vehicles.) I caught it before anything bad happened, but never figured out how that happened.

This is such a cowardly thing to do. I agree with RichP...I look at this as attempted murder. Completely disabling a vehicle is one thing, but this kind of sabotage is life-threatening. Fawkers should be shot on sight, or in fromt of their mothers.

It is so scary to think about this happening.

It was probably some ELF (earth liberation front) member. Those assholes like to burn down condo/housing developments, spike trees, string cable across atv trails, etc. Their outlook is, what's a few lifes compared to saving the world-from itself. F-ing eco-terrorists. Whoever did it was probably laughing their ass off hiding in the woods. To bad you couldn't catch him and give him a taste of his own medicine.

Bloomingdale, south east of Stratford Mall.

It sounds like a bunch of greenies are the ones who did this. I have also read that there have been nails placed statigecly on trails as well. I never could and never will understand the thinking of these left wing extemists. Dont get me wrong, i tread lightly and it angers me when others dont. Hope i never catch anyone doing that to my vehicle. You will hear about it on the news if so....

Doesn't suprise me much then, my sister lives on the other side of Stratford Square right by the Carol Stream PD&City Hall. She had a flat on her XJ a couple months back so I went over to pick her up and run her to work, went home and grabbed the floor jack and drove back to put my F/S spare on her truck (she had the doughnut spare and was going to be doing a bunch of driving the next couple days after this, so I decided to be a good big brother and let her use my spare.) I was there for 45 minutes (wasn't in too big of a hurry since I didn't have to go to work for a few hours and I had to air up my spare before I put it on here truck:twak:  ) I had two people drive past me and one walk past and didn't get so much as a "hi" or "hello" out of them, all while being in plain sight of the road that runs next to this complex and the afore mentioned PD&CH!

I can see you have never been on a NYC subway or PATH train. I've been riding with the same people every day for months and getting a 'HI' or 'Good morning' out of them almost requires a gun...I take a shower every morning, put on clean clothes, brush my teeth, gargle, don't make funny noises or pick my nose...go figure...

ROFL... I remember the PATH system well - used it a few times when I was in Hoboken for college. Nice system - I always thought it was almost as well set up as the DC Metro system, but with much older facilities. IMHO, the old-fashioned design elements on the platform columns always seemed to add a degree of quaint charm to the stations (generally offset by the entire rest of the place)

How'd Bill Murray put it in Ghostbusters II? Ah yes, something like this:

"Lenny, we did a survey. There's three million perfectly miserable ********s living in this city"

Of course, little incidents like the whole Bernard Getts (sp?) affair do tend to make folks 'round here a little less outgoing...
