drilling 1 new cam pin hole (cost of a new timing cover gasket).

To be able to actually drill a new usable hole on the cam sprocket you would have to clear the existing hole pretty well Which would advance the cam too much. What you want it a off set cam bushing and drill the original hole larger for it to fit. Or an adjustable timing set.

Renix had a "high-altitude" option for the CPS/CKP. The sensor was offset instead of centered on the mount.

You could try modifying a CPS/CKP.

this retards timing, not valve events.
retarding timing helps with detonation, but hinders power.

there are limits to how much you can vary ratios from stock. hard to identify if the law pulls you over, but you can get charged if they inspect your vehicle if its involved in an accident.

mate, anything above a 2 inch lift here is considered illegal. less than half an inch increase in tyre diameter is a no no (i am just fortunate that xj's are particularly uncommon, so a tyre increase doesn't raise too many eyebrows).

:'( That's the saddest thing I've heard all day. You should come to Utah where I can even get my pile to pass inspection haha! Also i see on average 3-4 4"+ lifted XJs a day just driving around town. I like it.
