This evening. Or that's the plan unless there is a big problem with it.

Does anybody knowledgable in the area want to offer their two cents while I look at it? I'll be there at 4pm ~ I805 / Orange Ave. if you are so inclined, or just bored out of your skull.
My cel # is (909) 633-8605

Thanks,

Tim Bentley

Just saw this, and while I'm still in LA, I'll be heading past there in like 2 hours.

Alas, too late, anyway.

Like I said on the phone, Thanks for calling! Oh, and that about that switch on the dash! :dunno:

Re: BOUGHT an MJ 4X4 in Chula Vista!!

Well I couldn't resist. LOL! Yeah right, this was pre-meditated. Kind of been half way looking for a couple of years. When I bought the XJ in the summer of '01, it was the first time I'd ever been without a truck. Now I don't have to get a trailer to haul the bikes on, oh, and other really useful reasons. When I looked at the ad online I could have sworn "short bed" was in there somewhere. WRONG!! Going back to the ad now it is very plainly a long bed. Actually a good thing. This is not intended for a trail rig anyway, don't need another money pit. :D

The truck runs great, TC and tranny are smooth and checked out OK. Body is straight. Really straight, more than the XJ. Hehehehe! Interior is complete, clean, the power locks and windows work. What in the he77 were they thinking when the put the controls darn near at the hinges? PITA! Ran down the freeway very well, kept cool and good oil pressure. The original exhaust is made of Swiss cheese, no idea how the guy got it smogged last week and all I care is that he did. Tags are fresh and carry well into '06.

Engine is the I-6 (4.0 or 4.2?)with fuel injection. Four speed auto and part time TC. HP D-30 up front, disco? Its got the cast upper control arm mount on the pass side. The rear appears to be a tracklocked D-44. Not sure what ratios may be.

Sorry for going on and on, but what can I say? I think I came out alright, YUP, happy.:laugh3:

BTW, Remi, thanks for your input when I called this afternoon and pulled you away from your surfing, err, work.

Good find Tim.

That switch of mystery is the power/comfort switch for the transmission, it gives the transmission controller slightly more agressive shift points. I leave mine in power, it's an early XJ AW4 thing, in later years they hard wired them into power mode.

Also, the engine is in fact a 4.0, you're Renix now, prepare to love their quirky french ways. Feel free to call me when you get stumped ;).

What the hell is that switch next to the fog lamp switch for? Looks like an overhead lamp icon??

awesome! very clean, and low mileage. nice find. now just ditch those mirrors and the brown paint and you're set.

LOL!! Those mirrors are the shizzersomethingoranotherghettotrailerparkish man!!!

But for 1400 bucks, the babyshit brown will do for awhile.:laugh3:

Hey - howcumzit everyone can find an MJ but me?!? Bent, if you change your mind, I can give it a good home up here...

You'll find that RENIX isn't that bad - once you get used to it. Hell, I've got four RENIX XJ's up here, and I've no complaints about the electronics!

The engine is definitely a 4.0 - there was no such thing as a RENIX 4.2, and the 4.2 never made it into the XJ/MJ chassis (unless you put one there, for some reason...)

Not a bad-looking truck - I'd probably end up painting it OD or pearl black, but that's just me...

Bent, looks good man. Ugly hue, but your bikes won't care.

Sequoia, that switch is the light for the bed. There's a light on the top of the cab which supposedly illuminates the bed when it's on. Even with both bulbs working, it's not so hot.

Nice truck, you got a better deal than I did on my long bed. Go ahead and lift it though; I just ran mine through John Bull last weekend for a first trail run and it worked really well, and no 22 point turns. What is wrong with the mirrors? You can actually see things with those. The little XJ ones are just there to snag on brush:)
