Busted fuel line fitting...and a sweet fix

to get rid of at least one plastic clip, i think you can use the tube flare fitting, on at least one of the male outlets on the fuel rail as well, earls doesnt make both sizes though.
i really dont like the plastic clips...

Oh dang, I didn't even think of that. I would have loved to get rid of those plastic clips. Oh well, an upgrade for another day...

Earls does make both sizes though - 5/16 and 3/8. I used the 5/16 on the stock hard lines.

im glad to hear it, the size he mentions in the video is the size I NEEDED for my renix rail.... i will be looking for a H.O. fuel rail =)

DieselSJ-

Great write-up! I will bs doing something very similar for my fuel lines and my tranny cooler lines. In the write-up, you mentioned the use of "push-lock line and fittings.". Where can I source these fittings and line? Thanks.

You can get the quick disconnect fittings at an autoparts store, line at a hydraulic shop, and a double flaring tool for the line if you want to do it the poor man's right way. Push the hoses over the flared metal fuel lines and use fuel injection hose clamps on everything.

X2. Double flares only for this else the outer edge of the tubing will cut into the inside of the hose.

If you have trouble getting the hose to go over the flare, boil a pot of water and dip the ends into it for a few seconds right before pushing them on. Remember to put the hose clamp over the hose first

Thanks for the reply, although I guess I could have looked at the end of your original post to find the summit part # and "twist-tite" description.

500w lights and pb worked real well at the barn on my build.

Great post. I have stuggling with how I was going to set up the fuel lines for the stroker motor going into my 66 Rambler Convertible and this gave the easy answer.

Thanks

WOW I was commenting on your pictures on facebook trying to get info THATS ALL RIGHT HERE :dunce:

Thanks for the write up.

thank you for the pic. i've been trying to get around to adapting the ho rail to my renix for some time. with what, and how, did you make the conversion bracket?

i made the bracket out of scrap steel, but as a precaution, i would like to be the first person to recommend something else, i ended up having to shim it to provide proper preload, and it makes me nervous, been driving around without a hood for the last week, just incase. looking for opinions.

also, if you use the tubing adapters, you should consider circumsizing the fuel rail's pito's. it makes the tubing adapters sit nice and close to the rail.

good to know. thanks!
