Busted again...

Grand cherokee's have issues like that constantly.. its 99% of the time ECU related. changing the computer fixes it. Did you swap your ECU out?

sounds like a bad/mis-adjusted ignition switch. The items you lost are on different fused circuits, but are all powered through the ign. switch. Because shutting it off and turning it on corrected it, I'd say it is slghtly out of adjustment.

I can't believe I didn't think of that... I just replaced the ignition switch last week and had a hell of a time adjusting it just right.

sell those and buy mine. i'll make you a deal... i'll buy a new battery, and swap the nss. you can redo the headliner hahaha. i'll even give you an extra backing board to let you try it on your own lol.

CPS measures 18ohms on pin b and c. According to what I've read that means it's bad... It should be 0ohms / continuity. But, It'll start now. I don't know how long it'll run tho. I guess I'll swap it out and see what happens.

So, I've got one on the way.

They can fail in funny ways like that.

Where did you get the sensor from?

Wheres that Two Thumbs up icon??

If you're going to take the time to replace the pump, do yourself a favor and get something OEM. I wouldn't recommend an Airtex...and this is coming from somebody who sold them for 2 years.

Fuel pumps are one of the very few items I do not cheap out on. I've had excellent luck with OEM's from NAPA for any vehicle i've put them in. They're usually Bosch brand as well.

Why the hell did you sell me one then?

I've never really considered killing anyone but the mutha XXXXing "Engineer" that decided one of the most failure prone parts on a Cherokee needed to be on top of the XXXXing bell housing has it comin! That bitch better hope I never see him in Wal-Mart!

FINALLY! Holy hell, if I ever have to install a CPS again it'll be too soon. That was one of the most difficult simple things I've ever done on a Jeep. Geez! You need to be as strong as 3 men, have hands the size of a 5 year old, 6 feet of 3/8th drive extentions, a 3 foot long 7/16ths swivel headed box end ratchet wrench, 6 elbows and a 9 foot long left arm. AHHH! but it's done.

How about someone with a known good fuel pump and a pressure tester go see what pressure they have after the Jeep has been sitting for a while after running.

As of right now, I start the Jeep up (with the old pump) and its sitting right at 48psi. Seems good. When I cut it off should it hold that same pressure for an extended period of time? Within 10 minutes it's all the way back down to 0psi. (I know that's not right) Primes right back up. I suppose that's to blame on the infamous check valve in the pump assembly...

mine was dead at 10lbs .. i think its supposed to be 39lbs..
I had to buy a pressure gauge at Advanced ..used it like 3 times.
Did you order the pump from Rock Auto?

Nope, pump came from O'Reilly's. Dropped the tank tonight and found the fuel smell I've been smelling.

I've noticed that the previous owner had some sort of boomin stereo. It's not in there anymore. It would have been nice if he would have plugged the holes that he left in the gas tank from where he screwed the amp to the floor... I would have had it all back in the Jeep but I had to wait on the JB Weld to dry. So, tomorrow morning.
