you shoulda mounted the plywood one up, with a nice stain I think it would have looked pretty good.
but, since you put so much effort into this one... well its not bad either.
good work

I gotta' say I like the idea of using the plywood as a form.

Hmmm....how can use that idea for my projects.....

:D
I am carpenter and it just dawned on me one day. I googled to see if anyone else had done it. I could not find anything so I figured it would prob work. I saw someone make one out of cardboard which is great to get a idea what it will look like but don't think you wanna use it to tack weld with. Cardboard gave me the idea for plywood. :D

Cardboard is usually used as a template to get sizing for pieces, not the welding. lol

I do carpentry myself. You should hear the comments when people see me destroying a couple inch thick piece of scrap hardrock maple, wild cherry, sapele, quartersawn white oak, etc. for working on stuff around the house or Jeep.

Nice job !
I would go back further with the unibody tie in brackets, at least deep enough to catch that large hole.
It would be a good Idea to get back further than the steering box so you can use your bracket to strengthen the unibody at that point where it always starts cracking sooner or later!
