Bumper thoughts!?

We based my side plates off the C-Roc plates I already had on my drivers side. The same holes exist on the passenger side (for RHD).
The next issue to worry about is actual weld quality.

So other then the fact that the winch mount, and frame mounts are weak… does it look okay? I'm not sure if I want one with the similar look or a different style?

The only issue I have with the jcr stuff is their brackets don't extend and the make you buy add on parts. So to get the extra mounting holes you need to buy a bracket that you may be able to use on other bumpers if you have a 3/16 gap between the bumper and unirail.

The regular bumper from JCR uses the factory mounts, you are correct, but the DIY winch bumper has extended frame mounts.

The "look" is completely up to you. The winch and frame mounts being trash are enough to steer anyone away. It could be the best "looking" bumper in the world but as soon as you hook to it be it on the winch or D-rings, it's not going to be pretty. Your good looking bumper just tore your front end off. I personally don't like picnic tables on the front of my rig or boner bars, but that's my opinion. I think it looks hideous, I'd rather spend $300 on materials and beer for a buddy to build me something if I couldn't. Like everyone has said, tie in as many of the holes on the frame rails that you can. Good luck

My bumper came with all the brackets to mount it. But it is also the winch bumper. I would call them in the morning an ask them. The list of parts are the same. Sorry if i was wrong. These mounts are much better than there old bumper set up.

If all you want is something that looks cool , then buy it and you and your buddies can talk about how cool it is all the way to the mall. Or you can take what advice has been given and pick something YOU like that will actually last when you hook a strap to it.

True.

I bought the extended mounts

Used them today, got stuck in the mud and needed a yank out, then my buddy got stuck and I got him out. It's solid. Worth the cash

save your money-- if this was something you just did yourself, I'd say great first try, but I wouldn't spend money on it. Sticks out way too much, and the sides should wrap around more. you'll have to add your own endcaps (not a big deal, but speaks to attention to detail). I had mine made by an out of state fab guy and IIRC, that cost at the time around $800, which I thought was a steal (if you're interested I'll post pics), but many of the commercial ones are just as good.

There are other areas you can save money on, don't skimp on the bumpers.

edit: Unclear if you're getting this to go offroading or just to tool around town. I assumed offroading since you're mounting a winch on it, but, if you're just going to head out to the mall with it, then get whatever you want.
