built xj vs. pinzgauer?

totally off topic in this off topic, non-tech thread, but...

Why in the hell would you build a trailer like that. Good lord that would be scary on the windy mountain roads. High center of gravity,

Looks like you've got enough room to work on the undercarriage standing up!!! Your own portable car lift.

I like the Pinz and all but to say it would walk all over an XJ is a bit of a leap. For one thing, the XJ isn't a military vehicle. Comparing a military vehicle to a daily driven, civilian SUV is a bit unbalanced, you throw the same kind of money on lockers and beefed up drivetrain etc. and all that fancy stuff the military spent money on into an XJ and I think it would be just as capable a vehicle than a Pinz if not more.

In fact, I think the tides would turn in much more favor of the XJ. When I get locked up I'll put my XJ against a Pinz anywhere anytime. If I get my ass handed to me, then I have learned some new respect, but without seeing it myself all this talk is nothing but hot air.

Vintagespeed for feeling like his pee-pee was too small by the Pinz owner.

Uh, ok. I'm a d*ckhead because I'd like to see him put his rig where his mouth is? You must be a small Jeep guy too, they all hate me. :)

vintagespeed....Lack of education is ignorance. Who in this conversation has delt with both machines?? And I am not talking just surfing the web pages. People like you I don't miss in the Jeep world. You really don't get to much ingnorance in the Pinz world.
My XJ was great, it was hard to sell but the Pinz is a mechanical marvel. It is so simple to work on and for the time (1974) and today it is mechanically and technically amazing.
Oh, by the way vintagespeed, with my BFG Mud 255 75's my clearance in the lowest spot is 15 3/4" with 300 pounds of weight in the back, but having a tublar chassey helps too. No broken drivelines here.

You must live in So. Cal with a snobby attitude like that. I've probably got a shade more dough wrapped up in my Junk than your Peenz, so pass me the Grey Poupon.

People like you are what we ACTUALLY IN the Jeep world are trying to train & educate. You are the kind of guy that drives off & leaves another Jeeper stranded on the trail because you "dont have time to help" or didn't watch your rear view mirror. I've dealt with quite a few of you types, yuppie selfish snobs that dont give a damn about nature or the people around them, just wanting others to slobber all over them.

No thanks, but I'll continue to pick up your trash & stop to help those you leave behind. :puke:

Gimme a break. He's not dissing your Jeep. He's stating his opinion which sounds to be the most informed in this thread since has actually OWNED both vehichles. I don't think that because he doesn't drive a Jeep now you can assume he's a "yuppie, selfinsh snob" Damn, have you ever even met the guy? It's not all about tire size.

Small jeep? It's tiny, man, tiny.

Guy comes on here saying that he likes his Pinz experience compared to his XJ expereince. He wasn't saying XJs suck, he even admitted they are like apples and oranges. No need to call him out to JV "to put his money where his mouth is" or brag about your 1 Ton axle. Methinks that you found his post threatening to your big XJ and manhood, which is all to silly.

Pardon me speed, but it is you that are out of line this time. STP189 is a former NAXJA guy who lives in northern Utah. Real nice guy to talk to and a very responsible wheeler. He has already done the XJ thing (not to the extent you have admittedly) and has moved on. He has used both vehicles extensively and prefers the Pinzgauer. Have you? I didn't think so. He never came across with any kind of attitude until he had to reply to yours. He never said his Pinzgauer would beat YOUR XJ. Maybe it wouldn't. Likely, his does some terrain better than yours and vice versa. Remember, 99% of XJ's are built waaaay less than yours so your Jeep is certainly more the exception than the rule. As you said yourself, you have spent more on your Jeep than he has on the Pinz. So you'd think maybe you'd have some sort of competitive edge there.

But YOU are the one who came out dissin on his ground clearance. YOU are the one with the "put up or shut up @$$hole" attitude. I'd have to agree with the awards as they have been given in this thread. Wear it with pride.patriot:

Bring it out to JV & we'll see how well it wheels. You only have 14" of clearance? I'll admit that my breakover is only 23" because of my LCA mounts and I've only got 11" under the 14 bolt (1 ton BTW) that's because of the 38" TSLs.

Dime a dozen? Yeah right.

Have you ever even been to JV? How many of the Hammers have you run?

Just Wrecking Ball, been building since then. Got married this weekend on the top of Claw, if that counts.

Well since you guys have made up your minds about me, I'll depart with this final post (hold the applause).

This was what I replied to:

"My problem is that I just have an issue of being different and as you all know the XJ and all jeeps are a dime a dozen, so I decided to Buy a pinz, just a little different."

& this

"vintagespeed....Lack of education is ignorance......People like you I don't miss in the Jeep world. You really don't get to much ingnorance in the Pinz world.....Oh, by the way vintagespeed, with my BFG Mud 255 75's my clearance in the lowest spot is 15 3/4"........"

& this

"and the di*khead of the day award goes to....."

So forgive me if I dont like getting attacked for just saying "Bring It". It's called Put up or Shut up isn't it?

<end>

I agree with Vintage, after reviewing the whole thread it was the Pinz guy who was giving attitude, Vintage just retaliated.

Like I said, when I get my Jeep built up to the military specs to that of a Pinz, I'll take one on. You have to admit, to post a topic like Pinz vs. Built XJ seems like someone just wanting to rub in our noses that they have a rare vehicle and we don't. This IS a JEEP board, so my advice is start the discussion off more friendly instead of starting a competition.

And I quote myself "without seeing them go head to head all this talk is just hot air".
