broken leaf

Hi,

Last weekend, after a 2 year pause, I went to an off-road trip and managed to brake a main leaf on my RE 3.5 spring.

Sadly, the manager of my apartment does not allow me to work on my jeep in the parking lot since last spring.

I am looking for a place in the south bay to work on my jeep. Anybody has any bright ideas ?

Actually it was fun. The leaf broke right in front of the U-bolt, so the jeep remained drivable. Got a bit of a "hill-steer" though. When this happens, the axle is still fixed pretty well side2side and front2rear (well, it changes under torque, therefore "hill-steer"). The only problem is up-down, so highway potholes are your enemy.

Please do NOT consider this as an advice on safe driving practices.

I was on the deer valley trail, going really slow. I have no idea how it happen, I guess just flexed too much. I was falling only on rails, no scratches on the underside, except for 8.25 diff cover lip. I heard that suspension sound changed, but did not see the problem immediately. While airing up after the trail, I took a much more thorough inspection and found it.

One more thing - the broken leaf is rear-left. The front-right spring upper bump stop was ripped out and the spring was holding it in it's teeth.
Not sure what that was about.
