Bringing a new project home today

Congrats on joining the sickness!

My bet is that it has a parts/scrap-only title and he is afraid you will VIN swap it and it could trace back to him. Kinda stupid fear, but it is what it is. Glad you're getting the whole back half at least!

Please tell me that new bed has a 44 hiding under the back. Do you get the rear axle and gas tank + pump assembly with that rear half or just the body and frame part? I know a couple guys up here doing restorations who would kill for a low-rust pump assembly, they simply can't be found up here.

Andy, I dig that windshield cover thing.

Also, our local pick n pull doesn't sell vehicles either because they don't have a dealer license. Too bad, I found a Westy in mint shape in ours one day.

I'd love to find one to put on the trailer. That'd be all me and the girls needed and I could quite looking for small pop-ups. I told him he could keep the wheels and call it a parts vehicle. :) I didn't want the title.

Sounds like you have an excuse for a 97+ front clip and doors :shhh:

Thinking about it. I'm not really sure yet. I know that I have to replace all the items nessecary to make the swap but I can't decide.

No 44. It was a 35. If I were to keep the axle he wanted to tack on 200 bucks. I told him to cut the truck in half, remove the axle and set the rest on my trailer. I'll check for a tank when I pick it all up on Tuesday or Wednsday.

I'm more excited about having an MJ trailer than having a straight bed. lol!
(Probably because I know the trailer won't take long to be rolling.)

I didn't pay attention to the shape of the visor but ill ask when I go back to get the truck.

Id love to get a topper but its not in the budget right now. Soon tho.

cool, if anything you should atleast pull it and store it for down the road. if its in good shape and a decent price ill be all over it if your willing

s10 toppers fit, at least did for my longbed. I assume that the shortbed ones are the same as well.

FIFTY?!?!!?

I hate you so much. Congrats.

Nobody will buy mine for $550................WTF!

I've also been told the Ranger toppers will fit as well.

There's a guy on CL that has one of those OLD metal ones he's wanting to sell for 50 bucks. I might pick that one up and paint it for the time being.

NO, I didn't feel like using the multiquote tool!

That won't matter much since the topper will go on the trailer, not the truck.

I long as the mounting profile is correct.

Going to pick up the back half of the truck either tomorrow or Tuesday.

Well shit.

I probably should have crawled around under the truck a bit better before I said this was the one. But, of course, I was pressed for time and I figured the low price was worth the gamble.

It didn't come out WAY on top with this one.

I went to pick the truck up and he asked me if I knew the frame was rusted to shit...

Went out and looked at it and he wasn't kidding. The trailer project may have a completely custom frame because the frame that came with this bed certainly isn't a good starting point. The drivers side front leaf spring hanger is not even attached to anything. The bed is still OK. It's not as mint as it looked but it's much closer to fixable than the one that's on the truck. Plus, it came with a good tailgate. The bed seems solid except for the inner fender well on the drivers side. It's mostly gone... but I think I can fix that once I get the bed off the frame and cleaned up I'll see what I can do.

He knocked the price back down to what he quoted the bed for and gave me the frame anyways.

The disappointing picture...

The bed...

Either way, I think I came out on top. I got a good tailgate, tail lights, flairs, gas tank, sender and decent bumper and 90% of a bed for 200 bucks...

Yeah, I'm kinda sad. :( I was all excited. But maybe I can still make something out of it.

If he hadn't knocked the price down I would have told him to haul it back out there.
