Even though he is probably a egotistical a$$, an another possibility is that he may have been sued for some sort of harassment suit by a women (maybe one of the ones he referred to) and came out on the short end of the stick. So now he is super-sensitive about such appearances. Good Luck

funny you should mention that. there actually is an active harassment complaint, from one of the two women co-workers, against one of the warehouse boys. he made it a clear point to bring that up.

i believe monday i'll roll up with the sticker still on, back into my spot, and maybe i'll censor it like jpnjim mentioned. i have a day still to figure out exactly what i want to do.

Don't feel bad.
My company actually wants me to park my XJ out in front flexed out on the wall between the parking lot and the street.
What does that tell you about the big cigars in a particular national corporation?

Of course, I think making ossifers out of civilians is also a bad idea - unless we either reinstate the rank of "Temporary Third Lieutenant" or institute a requirement for enlisted service prior to commission...
So you're saying that we should eliminate the four service academies?

Given the mess at the Air Force Academy I'm fully in agreement, but last I've heard Annapolis, West Point and King's Point still generally turn out decent officers.

Showing off that you are blatently not doing what your boss asked of you is a bad plan - park like you always do, in the same spot facing the same direction.

Have your meeting with your boss, and then decide what to do.

Personaly - id pull the stupid sticker anyway The herassment suit right now is probably the only reason he is asking for this - and it doesnt seem completely un-reasonable.

A friend of mine was asked to buy a new vehicle to drive to work, and had no option but to reply - He was driving a beat up 91 XJ with cracked paint and smashed in rocker pannels that didnt run everyday and showing up late for work (ABC life shoots) was not an option. He now drives a 03 WJ with all the nice stuff.

Two very different situations.

maybe its time to buy a tow rig or a commuter car? :dunno:

Not entirely. However, if we're still going to accept civilians, either make them Third Lieutenants for a while (call it an "apprenticeship") or make them put in a couple enlisted years before eligible for a full commission. There's not much wrong with the Academies (I think,) but the selection process might want altering - and I think the best way to fully understand the care and feeding of enlisted critters is to simple be one for a little while. Say, two years or so.

Fuel,
Sounds like you have your answer. If the suit is still pending DO NOT get involved in this sh*t. Take the sticker off tonight. If one of this women has her nickers all twisted up already you don't want to get anywhere near that stuff. In most states the laws on harrassment are very servere and they usually lean toward punishing the individual more than the company. For instance in MN where I had to deal with HR equipment I had to take all of these leagal classes on Harrassment and in one case that ended in 98 this women sued the company and the individual and the individual was ordered to pay 1.2 million while the company was ordered to pay 250k. In most states there are caps on company responsibility but none on personal responsibility. Do yourself a favor and take the sticker off tonight and praise God that the a$$ is so worried he told you and save you from a sue happy employee.

Also, GET THE HELL AWAY FROM THAT PLACE! That is a bad sign of the things that go on their and you will get screwed if you stay there long. START looking again.

Sorry man don't mean to burn down the money tree but most people have no idea how absolutely sh*tty those suits can be and how screwed you can get by being on the wrong side.

Man I had the same problem with my Woody sticker. My job is a little different than yours though. I can not just get fired. I get busted and can lose rank.

I had a female LT. get offended by the sticker. We ended up getting into a pissing contest over it. I am a SSgt and have been in the Marines 13 years, and the Lewie was only in a year and a half. It got so bad that the Battalion CO offered to either have me remove it, remove my rig from the base or remove some rank from my collar. Ultimately the sticker was removed from my rig.

Sorry to hear about your situation and I feel your pain, if I HAD a choice I would still be sporting my WOODY sticker.
I agree with you Shelby, she has no guarantee to never be offended. Unfortunately rank has privileges, no matter how unearned it was...I can say for my 5 yrs, I got lucky enough to have officers who were either prior enlisted, or just knew their place. Very rarely did we have a Lt try and tell a SSgt-MGySgt what to do. My last Capt pretty much gave our CWO5 free reign. He took that to mean he could park wherever the hell he wanted while we NCOs and below got our asses chewed for parking in non-parking spots, but that's another story...That being said...

Fuel, I can see where your boss is coming from. People think they have the right to never be offended and will sue whoever has the deepest pockets to procure that right. In this case, that would be your boss. If it was a matter where you'd get sued he probably wouldn't care. I say remove the sticker, if he keeps up the crap, find something better and give him your notice. After knowing him for so short a period of time, I'd hesitate to make a snap judgement over something so trivial as a somewhat "rude" sticker and end up walkin from a good job just because you want to keep your sticker.

One more reason women dont belong in the military.

Sounds like you just had a bad group of women. The majority of the women I worked with were great. They kept in good shape, many kept in shape according to male standards. I think women have every place in the military, except combat. Personally I'd pull em from a few more MOS's that are likely for combat; ie Motor T operator, but not mech. I had one Sgt who was an excellent NCO and was every bit a Marine, just as my Gunny was. I did know a couple who didn't quite belong, but I knew just as many guys who didn't belong. Just my $.02

And then you get to tell the customers "Sorry, we don't do that kind of work here" right?

Keep the sticker. In your case, he can't tell you what to do with it.

If there are women throwing harassment lawsuits around, make it a habit to never speak to them outside of work issues, and even then, very sparingly.

If the boss makes things difficult, mention "Wrongful Termination Lawsuit". I've seen that work very well, but that was here in CA.

Like an earlier post said if you are driving clients around on a day to day basis or if ever, then the sticker and the vehicle are part of your "dress code" but if it is just a RELIABLE means of transportation to and from work and simply only that. then I don't see any reason why he would have a S#&t fit about it anyway, also stated earlier if he thinks it's an eye sore for his company tell him that you are more than happy to drive a company car but in the job requirements there was no statement about how your transportation was supposed to look as long as you got to work on time, he shouldn't care if you are driving a graffiti painted taxi or a brand new H3 to work as long as your performance is up to par. no offense to women but they shouldn't give a hoot about what your car says as long as you aren't using any vulgar gesters or telling female jokes around the workplace, and by god don't slap a womans ass either...

I have worked for small small companies.....yes it does suck and if you really got down to it what he told could be stepping over the line.....but sometimes money talks. You really have to pick your battles with a small company.(yes I realize there is more at stake here too)

I read your post about pulling it and having a talk with him.....that is probably the best possible thing you can do.

Personally...i'd make that concession. Like everyone else has already mentioned...if he keeps it up, take a walk. I can see being flexible (people are offended by anything these days).

you need the money you say, take it off and play by his rules until you can find a more relaxed place. My new boss saw my "if i wanted a hummer i would have asker your sister" sticker and he got a good chuckle out of it.

Yeah, replace it with one of these:

It says, "I go to World Famous Woodys to up my standards,
so up your's!

I had to take an "I can get a Hummer in my Jeep, but you can't get a Jeep in your Hummer" sticker off my XJ--but I'm a librarian and the taxpayers own the parking lot. It still sucked--even my wife thought so.
EDIT: I just realized that the second part of this sounds like a pun--not intended.
