bosch platinum 4's in a 4.6 stroker

Anyone got any complaints, or suggestions as to what to use? I have heard that running colder plugs in a stroker is better but will the platinum 4's do the job? Who has any ideas on injectors for a 4.6, the stock ones are not big enoug I know but I am going to fire it up with them in for right now? I am looking at 19lb or maybe a lil bigger but don't want to produce a gas hog at the same time?????

Your stock injectors are 22 pound, not 19 -- and they are not big enough for your stroker. You need something between 24 and 26 pound, probably closer to 26.

The 4.0L engine doesn't like platinum plugs and doesn't like Bosch plugs. I can't think of a reason in the universe why a stoker would be any different. Get either stock NGKs or stock Champion truck plugs.

Eagle,
Why do you say this? I'm not busting your b*lls or calling a SPOBI, I just want to know your reasons.

I have run Bosch 1's in all my engines and have thought they have performed very well. I don't always run them at the preset gap so that may be a difference. I have had good life out of them and do not know of a single problem ever attributed to them in one of my motors. In my present motor (both when it was a 4.0 and now 4.6 long rod stroker) I have run the platinums on the stock coil, a POS accell coil, and now a MSD coil with Taylor Spiropro wires on an otherwise stock ignition system. The one time I did stray from the plats I went a truck plug and did not get as good a life out of them.

As for the Bosch 2's and 4's, I think they are snake oil and would not pay the extra to run them.

Concerning injectors, it depends some on your engine build but it is not a stretch to look toward the Ford Motorsports 30lb injectors to feed enough fuel to the stroker. Stock will be too small and a lean condition can cause serious damage. Better to be fuel rich and spend a few extra pennies at the pump then to run too lean and replace valves and pistons.

Mike at Accurate Power sell the injectors 6 at a time instead of the 8 FoMoCo will want you to buy.

gotta tell you, I certainly noticed a sotp performance improvement with bosch 4's, and that was after I changed out a perfectly good set of single electrode bosches, and after installing msd wires.

smoother idle, better acceleration (even with 31's and 3.55 on solid steel wheels). can't vouch for mpg, too many variables to even quantify a perceived increase of 3-5 mpg (at least that's me)

of course, the increased compression ratio due to the three additional electrodes might have helped, too

;)

Autolite 3923

I have the Autolite 3923 plugs in my stroker (one range colder than the 24 called for. Runs fine. I also have 24.6 MOPAR injectors flowing 26.5 (45 lbs pressure) and highway mileage on a 3 hour tirp got 20.3 MPG. Highway mileage is controlled by the O2 sensor - and can be quite good - around town I get 16 +- and that is controlled by the fuel map in the computer.
