I recently ordered a Blue Torch Fab do it yourself diff cover. I have not mig welded in over 10 years. I've done a little arc welding in the past few months so I started on the inside of the cover and welded it first, then I welded the outside. Here are the pics.

Looks good, i like BTF.

2 things. If your wheeling in the rocks Id grind down the cover just under the bottom bolt. It looks like it sticks out past the housing and if you drag it over a rock youll have a leakey seal.
Second I hate the allen heads on diff covers. If you slam them into rocks the heads fold over and youll be stuck sitting under your jeep w/ chennel locks trying to get them out.

The housing is actually lower than the cover. The pictures are a little deceiving. I agree on the allen heads, but it is a catch 22 because I have ground hex head bolts on rocks and had to get them off with vise grips.

Thanks for the comments
