Biggest Waste of Money?

biggest waste of $ on the XJ... I would have to say ANYTHING i bought from Pep boys. Too many fights with them about how they believe my Dana 30 is a Dana 44, and my Chrysler 8.25 is a Dana 35...

BS no named roof rack. Pretty sure it was a JCW cheapy. Save yourself the time and trouble, get rain gutter mounts.

OME930 coil springs....WAY too soft....

This is probably going to draw some heat,(although I dont know why, its my Jeep) but the biggest waste of money for me was lifting my XJ.
For the purposes I use it for (DD, forest roads, camping, ect.) it did just fine when it was stock. I dont really wheel anymore so theres no benefit to it being lifted.

x2 now its 8" high and on 37"s....it is a waste....but i like it...

tubing and sheet... I have built two bumpers for the rear in the past year(one which I like) and one for the front.... now I wanna get a tubing bender and make my own prerunner bumpers(soon). I guess its not really wasted... Its just practice

I'll jump on the AAL bandwagon. Waste of time and money IMHO. Save your money and buy full packs people.

Im going to go out on a limb and say roof racks and off road lights. Some may use a rack for gear but I tend to see most empty. Also just upgrading my headlights to H4's gave me more usable night driving light than a friend with 4 KC lights.

I've spent around 1,100 on audio equipment. Wait, that wasn't a waste...I love it! I haven't really wasted any money on my Cherokee yet and I've had it for 7 years now.
I would say my system was pretty much a waste because I bought it before modding the XJ for wheeling. A few deep water holes and putting the doors on and off and my ~$500 Focal polykevlar components are pretty much toast. The driver side mid crackles occasionally (from being submersed) and the passenger side tweeter is ravaged from catching something when taking the door off. :( But even through all of that I think they still sounds amazing for the most part. :D

Anything from energy suspension. I bought the complete poly kit for the XJ and it has been a nightmare of a sqeakfest since. I have seen nothing of improvement, I have seen stiffness that doesnt seem good!
Now I am going back to good'ol rubber bushings for a nice smooth quiet ride!

What did you expect putting in poly bushings?

X2!
I did mine cause the full poly kit worked wonders on my old ford (and the jeep rubber was wasted when I got it), but on the heep all I've thought about since the day I installed them is going back to good ol rubber

building my xj the way i did, i would do it way cheaper on a d60 and 14 bolt with 37's if i would have built it all at once. I have well over 8k into it now and i hanvt even caged it or chopped it yet. Never mind how many hours i have into it...:dunno: but im running most the stuff the guys with 39's+ are with 33's :shhh:

Not going crazy with mods as soon as I bought them.

It grew in steps which was a waste....

Bushwacker cut-out fender flares. They look good and work pretty well, but cheaper and easier ones out there.

same! i love the looks, but once you slam into a rock... its over.. waste of 400 bucks... if your gonna wheel lightly i would say go for it but if your gonna expect body damage they are pointless...:gonnablow
they look good tho!

That stupid cupholder thing that mounts to the center console above the E-brake lever. I would like to have back all of the milkshakes that have tumbled out of that thing!

But what's the alternative? Even if you have to keep a finger or two on top of the cup (and I agree I do!), it's still better than clamping a paper cup between your thighs...

My biggest (only?) waste was my very first upgrade: Skyjacker track bar. Stupid misalignin piece of crap. Ought to advertise it as "Bumpersteer in a Box."
