Big problem

This isnt on my jeep but anyway...

I have an F250 with a detroit locker in the rear....now it drives just fine in 2wheel, but when i put it in 4 wheel, one of the rear wheels will lock up and not move.....looking for ideas on what it could be, a problem with the locker? or an issue with the t-case?

Too weird--the only thing changing is the t-case, and yet there is no way it would cause a wheel to lock up only in 4wd on the only axle turning in 2wd.

Got to thinking about this...I'd bet money that you have two different gear ratios in your axles and what's happening is bind between the two.

BRILLIANT! Damn good tech call, even if it turns out to be something else.

yep thats exactly what it was, 5.13 in the rear and 3.73 up front.... (just bought the truck) and they said i was regeared, didnt even think anyone would just do the rear...o well

See, the more I hang with the Jeep crowd the more I appreciate you guys over the build-it-big-&-shiny crowd (even tho we can't discuss politics :laugh3: ). Buying a used Jeep we would mostly assume that "it's been regeared" means both axles - and we'd be right 99.999% of the time. But those "truck guys" - damn.
Who'da thunk it?

wow that blows, you would think they'd at least pull the front driveshaft with that kind of cheapness going on.

Actually, kind of dirty of them not to mention it at the time of the sale--maybe they didn't know it was a 4x4, being a mall crawler!
