Big decision, which branch to join...

So I've decided on a branch, now I'm torn on what job I want. After talking to several active duty guys and recruiters and doing a bunch of research myself I'm thinking that the Air Force is the best route for me. And I was stronly considering Security Force since it's right up my alley with the whole CJ thing but then I talked to a guy that just did eight years in Combat Control and he said Security Force was pretty much a joke, that they put the lowest ASVAB scored in Security Force and that they never do anything fun just check id's and stuff like that. I'm also really liking the idea of doin some Special Forces stuff like Pararescue, I think I'd really like that and it kinda goes along with what the Army recruiter told me (and what I too have heard in the civilian LE world) about how police departments don't like "retraining" MP's and such and would rather recruit someone with the special training and combat skills.

CHAIR FORCE!!!! :D

Good luck... As for the Retraining MP's thing I heard this myth too but when I left the army I was contacted by multiple PD's and the Sherrifs department in 2 counties. so I wouldn't believe it.

I kinda doubt it too, it may have been true in the past. but the CATM guys on Air Force bases train an aweful lot of civilian Police Departments. On the few occasions I have been out to a CATM range there has always been a few people from a local department getting training.

Either way good luck. I love the Air Force, if you do go PJ have fun, and I say with complete sincearity that I hope to never see you while we are both on a job as it would make it a good day for you and a crappy day for me...
