Hey Ken,

Word has it that you got into a little bit of a hot water issue somewhere around the Goal Posts on John Bull. :DThanks for the reminder, I should put new radiator hoses on the MJ.
Is it true that those rotten old hoses can go out on ya when yer in the middle 'o nowhere. :dunno:

That's why you gotta carry spares ;) When you pull the old hoses off, even though they're old, they make great trail spares.

Yes, I sprung a leak near the end of JB. A hose from the engine to the Rad. has a pin size spray coming out... Not too bad. the engine was running at about 220. but being the tard that I am, I saw that the overflow bottle was empty and wanted to fill it... :lecture: Undoing the pressure bottle make the water boil.

it started boiling until i capped it again. but the engine was now running about 1/8 inch from red... but not in the red...

We finished JB and as soon as I went about 25 mph it went back down to 220... Then we hit mud holes. that took it all the way back down to 170ish... it was fine all the way back to camp... After it cooled down. I filled it back up and it was fine... it took a 1 liter aquafina and 1 half liter of arrowhead to fill it... I could not find the leak when I was running. So me and the boy goofed around camp for the rest of the day...

I have today off so I am going to fix it.

As Far as the weekend went, it was a nice time. It was the first time camping for my 4 year old. We Stayed at Serrano in a tent. It was beautiful my day, about 75ish. But it got down to about 37 at night. Which isnt so bad except that when a 4 year old needs to go potty at 3:30 am... Not a Happy walk when I was nice and toasy with 4 of those hand warmers in the bag with me. At least Bed time wasnt so bad. I have an inverter and brought his tv and DVD player and set it up in the tent... I pop in Dumbo and he is out in 15 minutes... then I watched Gladiator and called it a night.

Well Just because we were camping didnt mean his clock changed... 6:30 am wake up call with another potty break. Then i managed to talk him into watching the Incredibles for an hour while I rested. Breakfast and coffee were next and then it was time to meet at the Discovery Center. Mike was the only one to show up, So we headed out at 9:40. We ran 3n61 (both ways north and south i think) and then headed over to JB. Then new XJ ran very well. I played with the front locker a few times. The root turn was a little tight but I made it with out too much trouble. Passed the big tree with no problems. but about 2/3 of the way through I hung up on a rock with the front diff... I was kind of stuck... but I locked the front end and turn the front wheel and it backed right off if it... SWEET! But then I noticed the leak in the rad hose... Which was kind of a bummer because i was looking forward to Holcom...
During the run I hit the control arm mount (RE 5.5 short arm). I will need to pay special attn to dropping off ledges with the front tire. I was glad I installed the gas tank skid before I went cause I put I nice gouge in it backing into a rock. The Passenger front tire almost ripped the break line off the mounting place. I scratched the rock rails (just installed them but the first of many). Busted rad hose (fixed today - and checked all other hoses). I didnt get a chance to use my new winch yet. But Johnson is coming. The most annoying thing is the leak in the air system. it went off every 11 minutes. only for about 45 seconds ... but every time it went off all I could hear was "Click - You Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck" unitl it went off... I just cant find the leak... u sed soapy water on all of the connections... so I am left to think that it is either a leak in the QA2 pump, a leak in the Pressure gauge, or inside the ARB locker in the diff... but I'm at a loss, i cant find it...... I hope these are viewable
