It was fun. You should have been there.
Mine did that and ended up being a broken fitting and not the ring

Yeah, I was wondering about your "problem" too, Matt. You didn't mention what it was. There was no fire, was there?

Nope no fire!

Just a really strong smell of fuel. Friday night on Holcomb, Rick & Kyung both said they could smell fuel when driving behind me. Further investigation in daylight reveiled a good fuel stain running down the front of the tank from the pump assembly area...... i'll have to drop the tank in the next day or so & work it out. Either the seal or a fitting like Dan said must be the culprit.

if it is a fitting make sure you check them all I fixed one and thought I was done and broke another when putting the damn tank back in.

Good idea Dan. Im thinking i'll also replace the pump & filters while im there, ive got 105 000 on the original one now. I'll keep the original one as a spare.
