Best Year of Jeep Cherokee XJ

Whats wrong with a 1990 xj limited? I have not had any issues with mine.

I am with you! I love my 1990 Limited w/ sunroof!!! Happier now with my booster+m/c (from 1995 XJ) installed on along with my 3.5 RE lift, (30x9.5)s and OME shocks. 250,000+mi and still strong!:yelclap:

I just got a 1996 XJ Classic Sport 4x4 4.0 HO... 150000 miles. I dig it. Pretty stock right now. Dont understand all the lingo or cons yall are talkin bout with the 96's. Anyways how do I know if mine is a early 96?

Another vote for 1990 XJ limited im at 279,000 miles on stock drivetrain and no rust.. oh and i swapped the newer front clip so no-one other than me knows my heep is 23 years old

early 1999 WITHOUT ABS - if you get ABS, you get a d35 rear axle for sure.

I have ABS and mine has the Chr 8.25. I have read that when Chrysler ran out of certain axles and were waiting for more, they just threw in whateve they had around so some have the d35 and some the 8.25. Mine is an 01' though

Wait, you have factory ABS and a factory installed 8.25? I've literally never seen that, and everyone I know says it's impossible, and there aren't any holes to mount the sensors in the backing plates. I want to see this - I'm not doubting you, I just have literally always heard that it's not possible and was never available and can't see any way to make it work without mods.

99 and 340000. Reason I got an XJ was I figured they worked all the bugs out
by the time I got mine. It's a shame they dropped the inline 6...

99
-good intake/F.I system
-HP F. axle
-Good head
-good (imo) ignition system

I bought a 99 limited to match my 99 classic, and found it had a key that was super expensive to replace due to funky security system, a T-case I like less, and the power seats aint as comfy as the heated ones. So I guess I vote 1999 classic. lol.

wow, not many votes for the renix era. is it really that bad compared? i have a renix that must have belonged to "uncle Bob" and have had my share of bugs and head aches, but are all renix jeeps like that? i was thinking of picking up a 90 waggy that has got to be the cleanest i have ever seen for 2K to replace my 89 waggy, but now i am thinking i should change my thoughts.
