Best of the Midwest run - ideas on locations

This raises an interesting point... is this a red event?
Unofficial non-events have no colors.

Ah ha, gotcha. I hadn't thought of that.

x2, in my butt, that is all.

I think this has the potential to being something MUCH more than "unofficial".
It sounds like a great opportunity for the MWC to really show it's colors.
Actually, I think this run should be more of an official event than Winterfest.
Who in the fawk wants The Badlands to be the spot for it's premier event?
While WF may be about getting together for some of us, most put wheeling first in a wheeling event.

I agree with Terry.

However, I think the biggest thing we have run into with the "official" thing is that naxja members must be the trail leaders. For this trip it sounds like we will be relying on the park to provide us trail leaders.

while i agree with you.....it brings up another issue. if it is an official event, will we need to cater to all skill levels? what if we choose a location that has difficult wheeling, but nothing that is moderate or easy? :dunno:

These are some of the reasons BOTW has never been made an official event.
There are too many rules that just can't be followed with this type of event.
Plus, you end up having to deal with the input and opinions of people who have no business in it.
I say leave it unofficial, sort of an annual MWC outlaw event.
Besides, wouldn't it be kinda fitting if our marque event wasn't recognized by the mothership?

Then would it be more appropriately named after the chapter website?

MidwestXJ presents...Best of the Midwest!

I've got an idea for an event I'd call BOTMW.
Basically, it's a copycat of the Best of the West run, where we pick a different venue every year. It'll be geared toward tougher trails and obstacles.

Harlan,Ky can meet the tougher trails and obstacles.
Just my two cents worth.
