Just snatched this up from a month old Craigs listing. The guy couldn't get anyone to venture up to look at it in Black Hawk. Started at $2200 for a few weeks, then $1700. We chatted, I hauled up there, did some dickering....... $1200.

4.7L, 45RE, and a 242 swapped in. Runs and drives, just has a shift solenoid that freaks out and sets a code. Needs tires, muffler, and brake bleed. A little tinkering here and there is needed, some cleaning and wheel polish.... but runs and drives very nice. Leather, Pioneer sound, CB, Dual battery, AirRaid CAI and TB spacer, lots of silly lights and a ghey roof rack with farm jack and camp shovel. Oh, and a 31x10.50x15 spare.... but it has 285 16's......

diseased you are, diseased!!!

odd to swap in a 242... the 244 is a stock option, just an electronically actuated 242... My Dakota has a 233, electronic version of the 231. I see a shifter on the floor though, so apparently that's what they did! 1999 or 2000? What kind of lift on the front (torsion lift options are a bit limited)?

As you well know the lift options for these things are dismal at best. I have seen a couple now with that atrocious shackle out back. Looks like 3" torsion up front?

3" body with torsion levers turned up a bit and rear shackles. Supreme awesomeness! The body lift on these actually seems like a good way to go since the IFS drop bracket kit and torsion bar crossmember drop tend to just become rock-grabbing appendages.

Yeah, those rear shackles ain't secksi...... I've always wondered why not just go SOA. :dunno:

The torsion bar drop bracket...... looks flimsy and destroys break-over clearance. Could you imagine ripping the drop bracket off and your front suspension collapses?

He blew up the 244 and found the 242 to be a cheaper / easier to find option..... i guess. Works just fine.

I think he could have swapped the 244 actuator onto the 242, but whatever. I agree on a little body lift, I have 1" pucks to go under mine shortly. I have the torsions dialed up a little over an inch, and that is as far as I can go without impacting the ride substantially. the Durangos are spring under?? My Dak is spring over, so I'm adding a 1" block in back. with 1" body and a little over 1" suspension, plus a wee bit of front trimming, the 285's will fit super - hell, they barely rub at full turn and I haven't put the body on yet...

Got plans for the ghey roof rack? Is the roof rack itself shitty or just all the stuff he stuck on it?
