A stolen trailer.......... :banghead:

I had a Littleton PD cop swing by the day after I bought it to have the plate run and to confirm that I wasn't seeing a VIN on it. He ran it, it listed clear and he confirmed, no VIN and that Texas doesn't title trailers.

Tonight I get a call from that same Littleton PD cop. He said that Denver PD went to the same apartment complex where I had bought the trailer and took a theft report on July 4th for the trailer and their Dispatch saw that Littleton PD had run the plate earlier.

Littleton PD tried to contact the registered owner all day today but he wasn't home and wouldn't answer at the phone given in the theft report..... so they'll try again Sunday....

I gotta meet with the LPD cop to get him the cell phone number, Craigslist ad info and a copy of the bill of sale the crook signed. Hopefully they can find the little creep.

Sounds like I'll be effed out of $316 that I've invested in this damn thing....... Would be nice if I have to give it back, that the owner reimburse me for the $117 I had to pay to dump the trash that was in it.....

Dammit, dammit, dammit. :flamemad:

What a shitty situation. Sorry bud. :(

Um, Texas titles trailers. Trust me

Maybe now....... but when this trailer was built and bought, they did not. I confirmed that through Texas DMV with the Littleton PD Officer. The registration specifically says the plate attached belongs on a non-titled, non-VIN "black home made single axle trailer".

My dad bought a boat in Texas 3 years ago. Same thing. Boat had a title, but the trailer did not. No VIN on the trailer either. He had to have the trailer inspected and Colorado VIN assigned.

SOOOOOOOO much want.......... a mere $40K

That sucks... hope you/they find the creep and nail him to the wall.

Odd idea - maybe the scumbag sold it to you, wrote a bill of sale with false info on it, then called it in stolen to get it back so he gets his trailer and his money? Something to look into, I guess.

What's with the crazy amount of 'no title' vehicles lately. Wtf.

I know. The number of repos is way up too. Repo operators notify LE when they're about to snatch a car, sometimes asking for us to stand by. We get 4-8 a week. It's crazy to see how many are $2500 cars getting repo'd for non payment.

Some of these cars with "no title" are actually being sold illegally by owners who think they can sell it off for what they owe and pay their debt. Some are unfortunate folks who bought one thinking they could title it only to find a lien.

"I couldn't find the title" is usually B.S. If they were the last registered owner and had a title, it's a cheap title re-issue fee and a duplicate can be issued to them immediately.

Where is this guy getting 14k in receipts? With no mention of regearing, I wonder how that 2.8 does turning those 35s. :scared:

Wish I could make out that window sticker, never seen one for an AMC/ Jeep. Is the original purchase price being figured into the 14k?

How he has $14k in receipts is written all over the spare tire cover...
